Ratings - Superior Reflection Shield
Rating: | This weapon will only be rated for Regular 1P/2P use, since it doesn't have any niche or league use. Price (2/3): due to the uniqueness of this reflector the price isn't too outlandish, though there's definitely better choices if you're in a budget. Power (5/5): In my opinion full reflectors are only good for one thing, boss battles. For battles against bosses with light heavy weapons this is perfect, and you won't find any better. On top of that it adds a little 25% water reflection, which is also a very common icon type, so that's a nice plus. Uniqueness (1/2): Reflectors are extremely common, but this is the first 100% reflector ever, and on top of that it has a nice little bonus of a second type. Overall if you can get it, this is great for boss battles, if not then either get a combo battle mirror for reflecting or a parasol of unfortunate demise for blocking. Because of that its final rating is 8/10. Rated on October 31, 2019 |
Rating: | At a Glance (3/3): Use this shield to bounce 100% of all light damage back onto the opponent, as well as reflect back 25% water damage. This is the first, and only, true 100% reflector in all of Neopia! In-Depth (3/4): Unfortunately, apart from Sword of Thigl, Flask of Liquid Light, and Kaylas Hat, you're not really going to see much massive light. Additionally, Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield is generally used so frequently that SoThigl has now taken/shares the niche that Sword of Skardsen performs - as a sneak attack weapon. Except light has multiple additional counters (Expert Lens, Dr. Sloths Personal Body Armour, Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, {{Dark Faerie Collar}}, Jhudoras Bewitched Ring, Dusty Magic Broom, Jhudoras Cursed Sword, and Air Faerie Crown!) whereas dark faces a shield and two dual duties (Ghostkershield, Ring of the Lost, and most notably, Hanso Charisma Charm). Light usage in general is discouraged quite a bit because so many answers to light offense and not quite enough light-stacking weapons. This is still the best of them all, but outside of the light, it's no better than U-Bend. Price (0/2): Last time I checked, this costed 30m+, MUCH too much for me. This is only 33% stronger than Combo Battle Mirror in terms of light reflection, and costs 10x more? I don't think that 25% water reflect is the difference maker here. If you got money to spend, have at it. This mirror's all yours. Bonus (1/1): TNT should change (read: buff) more weapons more often. First Scroll of Knowledge and Scroll of the Scholar, then this... what's next? |
Rating: | Price/Power (5/5) One of the most powerful reflectors in the game, it can devastate anything that uses light ever since the surprising change of effect. Being able to not only block light (which is a very common ability now days) but also reflect all the damage back? Wow. The main downside here is due to its rarity and usefulness the price is much too high for most battlers. Countermeasures (4/5) If you are using a heavily light based weapon prepare to feel the pain. Unless you are ONLY using light however this weapon can easily be avoided by simply stopping using your light weapon. However unlike most full blockers which you may still keep using your blocked weapons for the other icons they deal, this one that would be a very silly move indeed as it reflects damage back. This means that the only way to avoid this if you are using light is to use a non light weapon and hope that your set has some variety in it. Another argument to "not putting all your eggs in one basket". Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades The Parasol of Unfortunate Demise offers light blocking at a basically nil price tag. While it does not provide the same level of tactical awesome that this does the price let is unbeatable. Other powerful (but granted not as much as this) reflectors include the fire Clawed Shield or the water U-Bend of Great Justice. Other Points (None) Final Thoughts Without the upgrade this weapon would have been useless. Rated on August 18, 2013 |
Rating: | Superior Reflection Shield currently reflects 100% Light and 25% Water. This power is absolutely insane. I recently had the pleasure of discovering that Superior Reflection Shield's effect was changed while battling 2-Player. The shield's owner, myself, and a few others found and confirmed that Superior Reflection Shield no longer blocks full Light, but instead reflects all Light icons. Here's what we know: -Superior Reflection Shield used to block all Light icons and reflect back 25% Water. This weapon was accurately tested; the weapon's effect had to have changed at some point. -Superior Reflection Shield is now reflecting all Light icons instead of blocking them. The reflection appears to be the case in 1-Player and 2-Player; there does not seem to be anything strange going on here. Here's what we don't know: -We have no idea when the effect was changed. -We do not know if this was intentional or unintentional. --- Thanks to this change, Superior Reflection Shield has gone from an afterthought to an exceptionally powerful reflector. Unfortunately, this shield is R99, and despite being over a decade old, Superior Reflection Shield is uncommon to find. Due to the changed effect and the rarity of Superior Reflection Shield, the price of this weapon could skyrocket. Superior Reflection Shield will punish Sword of Thigl and Sword of White Lies while also helping tame a Kelpbeards Trident or Sword of Tawre. In L97 play, Superior Reflection Shield will shred Amulet of Thilg, Kaylas Hat, Glowing Battle Dung, Solar Burrito, and ... ▼ Read More ▼ |
