Rating: | Price/Power (2/5) This item is fairly cheap, provides the 12 icons required to be at the level of the standard Scarab Ring- best of all it may be forgotten when a war comes around. Countermeasures (4/5) Knocks plenty of damage off the Scroll of Knowledge, Scroll of the Scholar, Scarab Ring, Scroll of the Wise and multiple other decent weapons. At the same time it only really faces challenge from the Lair Beast Tooth Shield and Wanderers Cloak- pretty decent all round. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Well there is always the Scarab Ring- but this one may be better due to being less expected Other Points Final Thoughts There should be more scarab ring alternatives, if this one was about half the current price it would be even better. Rating: | Amulet of Altador is a cheap Dual Duty weapon that at the time of this review can be found on the Shop Wizard for between 10,000NP and 20,000NP. This is more costly than fellow 6-and-6 Dual Duty Scarab Ring, but the price is still reasonable. 6 icons is a fairly weak attack in today's Battledome, so obviously the defense of this weapon must help make this weapon worthwhile. The 3 Air icons are appealing as they are somewhat difficult to stop, but the opposite is true for the 3 Light icons; Light icons are easily stopped by various Dual Duties at this level of battling. The combination of both Water and Dark defense is seldom seen at any level of battling, but the question that arises here is whether or not Amulet of Altador can be more useful than Golden Compass. Golden Compass, when compared to Amulet of Altador, offers 3 more icons of offense, but drops off the Water defense and a fraction of an icon of Dark defense. In order for Amulet of Altador to be more useful than Golden Compass, it must block both Water and Dark icons when used. What weapons at this level deal both Water and Dark? There are Sroom Fruit Potion and Flaming Blooble Potion, Scarab Ring, and Cloudy Wand of Storms, but that's about it. (Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal and Jhudoras Cursed Sword should count to, but Amulet of Altador is actually losing head-to-head against these Dual Duties}}. In other words, there aren't many weapons sporting both Dark and Water icons, although there are many more possibilities when two weapons are put together. Rating: | Price/power (1/5): You can get something with 6 attacking and 6 defending icons for about 1/5th of the price. Still, this may have its uses. Tactical (4/5): This is a dual duty with less icon spread than the Scarab Ring. The attacking icons are also fairly hard to fully block. It comes out even against any 9-iconer that deals water or dark. Bonus (1/1): The icon types are a clear reference to what the sun does. Good job, TNT. Closing remarks: If this was cheaper, it would definitely be worth getting. I'd recommend looking into 9-iconers instead at this level, along with some shields such as Studded Leather Cuirass, Shiny Shoal Shell Shield, and Leaf Shield.
