Ratings - Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal
Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/Power (2/5) While even after being given out during the plot this is still too expensive, it still does offer a really nice dual duty experience. However it can easily be upgraded upon. Countermeasures (2/5) Light seems to be a pretty handy icon to block, taking a chunk out of the Electro Sword, Festive Holiday Scroll and even the Golden Compass. In 2P this comes out on top handily. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades However, chances are if you received this during the plot you are wondering if it is useful during the plot, to be honest the Golden Compass while being beaten by this head to head (or at least leveling the playing field) is still better for 1P. Also, if you are willing to move away from the Dual Duty market, a Scroll of knowledge provides a lot of icons. Other Points Final Thoughts Great if you earned it for free, pretty nice in 2P... may not be the perfect weapon for a plot however. Rated on February 16, 2013. Updated September 30, 2021 |
Rating: | Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal is one of many Light-blocking Dual Duties available to new battlers at a low price. Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal deals 3 Water, 2 Air, and 2 Dark icons for a total of 7 icons, and it blocks 3 Light icons as well. Air and Dark icons are difficult to block in low level battling; it would be nice if this weapon had more of them. Water is one of the easiest icons to block, but this weapon is clearly not designed solely for offensive purposes. However, there is a very similarly priced, better alternative to Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal: Ancient Gnarled Wand Ancient Gnarled Wand blocks 3 Light icons like Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal, but provides a slightly more powerful 8 icons. Ancient Gnarled Wand deals 3 Dark and 3 Air along with 2 Earth. In entry level battling, Dark, Air, and Fire are the more difficult icons to block, while Earth, Light, Water, and Physical are easier to block. Ancient Gnarled Wand deals an icon more than Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal, and 6 of its icons are of the "hard to block type" compared to 4. Since these weapons sport an almost identical price tag, I would personally recommend Ancient Gnarled Wand over this weapon. Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal has lost its spot, and could only regain a niche if it was to drastically fall in price. Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/power (1/5): This is one of the more powerful dual duties at this level, with 7 attacking icons. However, Ancient Gnarled Wand has 8 attacking icons and is slightly cheaper. Tactical (4/5): Light defense is very hard to come by, and having 7 attacking icons means that you won't be sacrificing too much attack. This will come out ahead against most 9-iconers that deal light damage, though the Golden Compass still beats it. Bonus (1/1): So far, it hasn't really betrayed anyone. Closing remarks: Depending on your style, you might choose this over Sword of the Dead, which sacrifices attacking power for defense. Thief Dagger's still a good choice though, despite the chance to deal a miniscule 4 icons. Rated on December 7, 2012. Updated January 31, 2013 |
