This is one of a series of reviews meant to tank the scores of a number of weapons that are just way too high up on the Top Weapons list. The rating is tough on purpose - it's meant to impact the average.

This (and every 13/14-iconer that was released back around this time that's still worth 400k-1m or more) has a big problem: There are now buyable options that do just as much damage for less.

Namely, for this 13-iconer, there's now Poisonous Mushroom Tea and Molten Boulder, which are both buyable 13-iconers (whereas this is unbuyable last I checked). That's without mentioning the other great buyable options that just do more damage than this: Turned Tooth, Void Blade, and of the 14-iconers like Tyrannian Sceptre... you get the picture.

For the price of just one of these, you should be getting two Void Blades or Turned Tooths with enough NP left over to get a healer and some training.

In short, expensive ~13-iconers and 13-iconers like Ylanas Blaster, Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting the NQII weapons, and this are all way past their prime now.

Altador Cup Throwing Star is a 13-iconer released as a prize in last year's Altador Cup.

Unlike Ylanas Blaster and Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting, Altador Cup Throwing Star is a true 13-iconer. Although these two weapons feature some fractional icons, Altador Cup Throwing Star is fractional-free, a nice plus. Typically speaking, this weapon is slightly more expensive than Ylanas Blaster and Brynns Legendary Sword of Wraith Smiting, but it is slightly cheaper than the other 13-iconers Wand of Reality and Bow of Destiny.

This is why Altador Cup Throwing Star is a great value. In terms of both actual icons as well as icon assortment it is a step up over Y-Blaster and Brynns Sword, but it is still cheaper than Wand of Reality and Bow of Destiny.

The icon assortment is a stronger choice for two reasons: First, Altador Cup Throwing Star features only three icon types as opposed to four. As a result Altador Cup Throwing Star is harder to partially block. Second, the Fire and Air icons are some of the more difficult icons to block at this level of play, and even the 5 Physical icons can be formidable if paired with another Physical weapon.

Still, countering Altador Cup Throwing Star is possible. Rusty Pitchfork will win head-to-head just as it does against many intermediate-level weapons. The not as common Portable Cloud and Fearsome Gladius will also mean trouble against Altador Cup Throwing Star. Scarab Ring will only fall behind by one icon against Altador Cup Throwing Star, but the ring should not be a serious threat at the level of play where 13+ iconers are used....

Price/Power (2/5)
Likely there are many items which need this downgrade, but for now this is the item getting it. While it is still solid if you have it, paying 2mil for the privilege of a few air icons does not seem nearly as enticing.

Countermeasures (3/5)
An odd combination of icons, but let down by the physical in my eyes as a full physical blocker such as a cheap Altadorian Swordbreaker or more expensive Winged Scarab taking big chunks out in 2P.

Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades
While they are all slightly weaker then this, any of the other plot prize 12.67 weapon such as the Ylanas Blaster may we worth a look in depending on the price you can get one for. Upgrades wise, Dr. Sloths Personal Bath Buddy is a clear upgrade with a great price and icon spread.

Recently however, the Tyrannian Sceptre has came out, which is much higher than typical plot prize level items despite being easier to receive. Wonder if they ever release this "plot" that TJST is teasing if we will all be given anagram sword level items at this point..

Other Points (No Bonus)
I guess someone at TNT HQ got over their hatred of the number 13 when it comes to these plot prizes. Though, now I have to remove this mark because TJST has started to count to 14

Final Thoughts
Yet another solid plot prize weapon that is actually worth the price of admission, if only for 1P.

Price/power (5/5): 13 full icons for around 1 million NP? When Ylanas Blaster first came out, some people said it "broke the Battledome" because it was going for 800k. Even now, alternatives to this weapon are more expensive. With 3 choices for cheap 13-iconers, 1 million (or slightly more) has become the standard, as all 3 are around the same price, despite all 3 having been retired for various amounts of time.

Tactical (4/5): This isn't fractional like its 2 main alternatives and has enough raw power to overwhelm most shields and dual-duties. The icon combination isn't shut down by any of the common shields at this level, though it's also not hard to partially block. However, Winged Scarab does reduce this to 5 icons.

Bonus (1/1): Until this was released, this particular combination of icons was almost unheard of. To my knowledge, the only notable multiuse weapon with the exact same icon types was the Silver Draik Bow.

Closing remarks: This is one of the 13-iconers that are worth getting at this point. It's better than the other 2 cheap ones and about as good as Wand of Reality or Bow of Destiny.

Final score: 10/10
