Overview: The Altadorian Swordbreaker is one of the new-era weapons that, for better or worse, really helped define the new battledome.

The Good: The Swordbreaker is crazy cheap for what it does. It usually hovers around the 50,000np mark, which is a steal. Now to the better part. The Swordbreaker, paired with the right mid-tier weapon, can actually beat out hidden tower stuff. First of all there's the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, which pairs perfectly with the Swordbreaker. If the opponent pulls out a Sword of Thigl, that sword will do nothing. If they pull out a Sword of Tawre, the cheap combo only comes out 7 icons behind. Not bad for a tiny fraction of the other set's cost. For intermediate battles, the Swordbreaker ties with the Stone Foam Finger which also helps put its value into perspective.

The Bad: While physical is abundant in the Battledome, and present almost everywhere, it usually doesn't come in single large quantities. Stone Foam Finger, Asparachucks, and Golden Butter Knife are the only realy places that the Swordbreaker shines. In generally, it's better to pair with another shield like Pirate Captains Hat if you know that a Ghostkerbomb is coming. With its weak attack, timing and pairing are extremely important to make the Swordbreaker work.

The Ugly Truth: The Altadorian Swordbreaker is definitely worth keeping in the ol' battle arsenal. It might not come out every fight, but with the right timing and a decent pairing, it can really help turn a battle.

Power: 5/5
A full physical blocker with additional 5 earth icons, awesome. The perfect replacement for your old Winged Scarab getting rid of the self-attack. While Yooyuball Player Sling may still be slightly better, it's far more expensive, so Altadorian Swordbreaker realy is the full physical blocker you'll want to use.

Counters: 1/3
While the physical blocking is very hard to avoid as so many weapons contain physical icons it most likely won't block many as mass physical weapons are practically non-existant (closest being Stone Foam Finger).
The earth icons will most likely be blocked if the opponent is using a shield, so be aware.

Uniqueness: 0/1
A revamped version of Winged Scarab and Yooyuball Player Sling - not exactly special in any way.

Bonus: 1/1
This is surprisingly cheap and really easy to get, so unless you're on a really tight budget, get it and even if you won't use it any time soon I'm sure the day this will come in handy will come.

Altadorian Swordbreaker, along with Parasol of Unfortunate Demise belongs in a new realm of absurdly powerful cheap weaponry. This weapon blocks all incoming Physical icons, and deals out 5 Earth icons as well. Prior to the release of Altadorian Swordbreaker, battlers would have to shell out millions of Neopoints for a Physical full-blocker of this caliber like Yooyuball Player Sling.

100% Physical defense has always been attainable at a low price in the form of Winged Scarab, but Altadorian Swordbreaker is decisively better than the scarab. Winged Scarab is not a true full-blocker; it deals a fixed amount of damage to the user in return for blocking all incoming Physical damage. Also, Winged Scarab only attacks with 3 Air icons compared to Altadorian Swordbreaker's 5 Earth icons.

I frequently recommend this weapon to 1-Player battlers on a budget as a top choice for a defensive item. This is because for pets without maxed out or near-maxed out defense, full-blockers are unquestionably far superior to non-full-blocking shields. Weaker defense boosts will offer almost no resistance against stronger challengers, making full-blockers preferable as they take the users weak defense out of the picture. Physical is the most commonly seen icon type in 1-Player battling, meaning there is a high probability that Altadorian Swordbreaker will weaken the enemy's attack. In addition to the full Physical defense, the extra 5 offensive icons is a nice bonus that would not have been provided with a generic shield.

In terms of 2-Player, Altadorian Swordbreaker is likely to block a few icons, but the amount blocked wil...

Price/Power (5/5)
As a full physical blocker this item goes unmatched, especially for price. Dealing out a solid 6 icon earth attack is also still great.

Countermeasures (3/5)
Giving a bulk of earth icons makes this harder to block then most, but is completely broken by a Leaf Shield.

Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades
This item replaced the more expensive Winged Scarab and the VERY expensive Yooyuball Player Sling, in the realm of full physical blockers this is close to king.

Other Points (None)

Final Thoughts
A solid full physical blocker for when you need it.
