Ratings - Darigan Muffin
Rating: | This weapon will only be rated for Regular 1P/2P use, since it doesn't have any niche or league use. Also since most muffins are similar they'll all have similar reviews. Price (3/3): Most muffins are dirt cheap, and from that they do that's good enough. Power (1/5): Yeah... no. The era of 15 icon weapons ended when 13 icons became the regular for multiuse weapons. buying these over and over makes no sense when you can get something like Yooyu Knuckle Duster or Turned Tooth for 100k, and if that's too much you can get 2 The Power of Friendship for relatively cheap instead for only 1 less icon. It does get 1 point because muffins are so cheap you can use them until you get enough neopoints to buy 2 dusters or teeth. Uniqueness (0/2): There's just too many 15 icon, 3 icon type bombs to count by now. Overall its only use is for a user that's new to the battledome that needs a disposable, good damaging weapon until they can buy something better. Because of that its final rating is 4/10. Rating: | At a Glance (2/3): Feed your opponent 15 icons of evil deliciousness, 5 icons of fire, darkness, and physical each. Man, people in the dark side sure know how to bake! In-Depth (2/4): This is like a powered up Sword of Apocalypse, having 2 extra fire and a constant physical attack rather than a variable one. It harasses Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield and many weaker shields. But, as a bomb, it shouldn't be used against shields like Faerie Tabard, as the majority of the damage in that single turn will be blocked off, making that turn a bit of a waste. So do be careful. Price (1/2): Sure, it costing 100 neopoints a pop doesn't sound like much, but you're still losing nps every time you use it. Every muffin thrown could be better spent elsewhere, like a Dewberry Reviver for example. It all adds up over time. Plus, who'd want to go through the hassle of equipping one before every match? Not me. Bonus (1/1): I wonder what "evil" taste like? Probably has a fruity taste to it... Final Score: 6/10 Rated on May 28, 2014 |
Rating: | Darigan Muffin is one of many different muffins being awarded in the Central Arena in the new Battledome. Like many of these muffins, Darigan Muffin deals 15 icons. (Nice!) As result of becoming a prize, Darigan Muffin's price has plummeted; Darigan Muffins can be found on the Shop Wizard for less than 100NP. (Nice again!) At entry level battling, 15 icon muffin bombs like Darigan Muffin are a deadly force. The damage output is significantly above Multiple Use weapons at this level like Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer and Scroll of Knowledge, and despite being One Use, these muffins are so cheap at the moment that the cost of replacing them is a mild nuisance at the worst. The average price of 15-icon bombs is so low now that they are no longer just for important battles like Defenders of Neopia; muffins can now be used by Budget Battlers on a fairly routine basis, especially when obtained as prizes. That said, Darigan Muffin stands out to me as one of the better 15-icon muffin choices. With the exception of Shooting Star Muffin, all of the 15-icon muffins have Physical icons, meaning that fact cannot be held against Darigan Muffin. (Shooting Star Muffin costs much more than the rest of the muffins, meaning it cannot be classed with the "cheap" ones.) The difference maker for Darigan Muffin is the Fire and Dark icons. Some of the Fire icons can be stopped by Scarab Ring, as well as some of the Physical too, but outside of Scarab Ring there is very little practical Fire defense at low level battling. Royal Blue Cape blocks some Fire, and Sophies Magic Hat blocks some of all three of Darigan Muffin's icon t... ▼ Read More ▼ |
Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/Power (4/5) 15 Icon bombs can be the difference between wins in the battledome, so picking the right one is important if you choose to have one in your set. Most of the cheaper muffins are generally good value so long as their power is sufficient, especially in 1P. Countermeasures (0/5) In 2P however this muffin fails to impress. Given the level in which single use bombs like this are normally big is the same level the scarab ring calls home, it is absolutely killer that a dual scarab ring setup can take this down to a 5 Icon attack. Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades Look at the other battle muffins and see which one is best, or perhaps look into the Swift Darkfire Negg Bomb, which offers very similar icons but without the easily blocked physical. Other Points (None) Moo sorry, moo. Final Thoughts Good for 1P like all these 15 Icon muffins, but falls short in 2P. Rated on November 20, 2012. Updated August 31, 2017 |
