Ratings - Regulation Meridell Crossbow
Rating: | Price/Power (0/5) I like the concept of this item; but I think the icons would need to almost double before the risk would be worth it. Yes, if you somehow got all 20 icons to fire at once, that'd be great. But with only a 1/16 chance? Ouch. All that is just the power- but the price of this retired item? Yeah... Countermeasures (0/5) If this worked better- even if it had like, double the icon variety (add in water, air, maybe a couple of extra physical batches) - this would be a perfect weapon for avoiding any blocking; but as it stands the very real chance to get under 10 icons is just not worth your time. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Even something like a Magic Gridlock Gun would likely be better than this - it does 3/4th of the max damage 100% of the time, and with all icons. Other Points 1 Bonus I like to give away bonus points for retired items, <3 Final Thoughts This is a collectors item, just keep it in your SDB for all time. Rated on April 30, 2022 |
Rating: | Price/power (0/5): Retired Hidden Tower weapons tend to be expensive, and this one's no exception. But unlike the fabled Faerie Slingshot, this crossbow is high-risk, low-reward. Tactical (0/5): Icon combination might have some uses due to unpredictability, but there's a significant chance that it might do 0 damage. The most likely scenario is that it does 10 icons, which means that it'll still be outclassed by weapons such as Ylanas Blaster. Bonus (1/1): Because I can't give this a 0. Closing remarks: Immovable objects don't exist, and this crossbow certainly doesn't produce an irresistible force. Go for Ylanas Blaster instead. Rated on August 31, 2015 |
Rating: | Overview: 0-20 Icons. That's... uh... something. Right? The Good: I guess 20 icons max isn't too bad. The crossbow might be fun for those that enjoy big-chance-poor-reward weaponry in the Battledome, in which case, it pairs well with a Battle Plunger and Pheppabomb. The art looks like something you'd see in the Hidden Tower, so I guess that's something good about the Crossbow. The Bad: With four different icon types, the Crossbow is basically a really unreliable version of the Werelupe Claw Necklace. So in the event that the Crossbow somehow miraculously lands all 20 icons, there's a good chance that at least some of them will be blocked. Aside from that, the crossbow is weaker but costs more than all of the decent hidden tower swords like Sword of Reif and Sword of Skardsen. The Ugly Truth: The Regulation Meridell Crossbow is for collectors, and really shouldn't see use in the Battledome except for maybe some weird tournament that purposely uses bad weapons. If you've got the neopoints to spend on the Crossbow and want to avoid the "Hidden Tower sword meta game", look to a more reliable big-icon-spread weapon like Fan of Swords.
