Ratings - Frozen Cyodrake Shield
|
Rating: | Power (3/4): A full fire block is great, as only a handful of weapons have that niche. The added defensive icons, albeit small, do serve a purpose in league play where they matter more. Price (0/4): The year is 2026, and this is finally re-released, albeit tied to a random chance off of a 200 million NP purchase... If you happen to land on this, you should be relatively happy, though. That being said, it's not worth chasing. Other (0/2): As mentioned before, this has a niche on 2P battles. The defensive profile is superb and the fact that it covers a spread of otherwise-annoying icons is awesome. It still does not warrant a purchase unless you'd like to have a burning hole in your bank account. Alternatives: I have not mentioned it yet to not humiliate it, but Snowager Pendant is now available, quite cheaper in comparison, and also fully blocks another icon whilst dealing respectable damage. Ouch. Rated on January 28, 2026 |

Rating: | Overview: For a while, this nigh unobtainable weapon was a good bit desirable, being one of only two weapons able to fully block fire icons while being multiuse. But now that a third, much more affordable option has been released from the stranglehold the Snowager had over it, this weapon has since become less desirable. Accessibility: 0/4 This is a cove item, which means, inevitably, it's extremely sparse and expensive. Even if you do find a seller, this thing will probably cost you a ton. Viability: 1/5 Fire blocking is nowhere near as elusive as it once was many years ago. With the Snowager Pendant being released and the Reflectozap brothers being much easier to get nowadays, this weapon's niche, while still pretty good, is now filled by more than a single legendary weapon. Alternatives: The Snowager Pendant full blocks fire as well, but also trips up Water and deals some pretty good damage, on top of being easy to get if you have the money. The Flame Reflectozap and Reflectozap 2000 don't block as much, but make up for it by reflecting instead of blocking. The Rod of Dark Nova is extremely expensive, but it can also multiheal and full blocks dark as well. Bonus points: None provided. Final notes: Long ago I really wanted to have this weapon. But now that I have the pendant, this doesn't really mean much to me anymore. Rated on August 4, 2025 |

Rating: | Power: 3/5 While this isn't really an all-round shield like Faerie Tabard or Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield and is a lot more expensive than those due to being a Cove item instead of a HT one, this is arguably the cheapest multi-use full fire blocker. The only other reliable one would be Rod of Dark Nova which isn't really worth considering as comparison here as it's in a completely different "league" of items. Counters: 1/3 Let's be honest, the main reason you'll use this is to stop a Sword of Reif - one of the common anagram swords due to fire being very hard to block right now. If you time it right, it'll achieve exactly that - however this really doesn't work as full shield and you may be better off with HNMS or the likes if you don't know your opponent will spam fire to take you out and if he does you may want to consider Clawed Shield instead. Uniqueness: 1/1 The closest to an all-round shield with full fire blocking that we have right now. Bonus: 0/1 You'd really expect more from a cove shield. Rated on August 9, 2013 |

Rating: | Frozen Cyodrake Shield is one of the few weapons in the game offering full Fire protection. Other Fire-blockers include the situational Wand of Flamebolt, the single use Slippery Floor Potion, and the incredibly expensive Rod of Dark Nova. Fire defense is had to come by, and sadly Frozen Cyodrake Shield is the best option available to many players. Despite its unique ability to block all Fire icons, Frozen Cyodrake Shield isn't particularly great. This shield offers only 8 icons of defense in addition to the full Fire defense, 5 icons of Air defense and 3 icons of Light defense. The purpose of a full Fire blocker is to block a serious amount of Fire icons. What weapons deal a heavy amount of Fire icons? Only a few - Portable Kiln, Sword of Reif, Ghostkerbomb, and Grapes of Wrath. Although few in number, all of these weapons are common sights in the 2-Player realm. Despite the prevalence of Fire in upper-level battling, Frozen Cyodrake Shield is not necessarily the best choice in the price range. Consider the debate between a powerful shield and a powerful reflector. The powerful shield is versatile - it can block a variety of icon types and a great deal of damage. The powerful reflector relies more on timing - its defensive capabilities are more limited than the powerful shield, but if timed correctly, it will deal great damage in addition to great defense. Shields are safer options, but reflectors offer greater potential reward. That said, Frozen Cyodrake Shield is a shield, but it is not a versatile shield. Unlike Hidden Tower shields, Frozen Cyodrake Shield does not have a huge defensi... ▼ Read More ▼ |

Rating: | Price/Power (4/5) This item costs a LOT, I shant dance around that fact... However when it comes to cove items this is a very reasonable price most of the time. Besides this, it also is a fact that this is currently the best fire blocker on neopets. If it wasn't for the cheaper Clawed Shield this would have no peer. Countermeasures (4/5) This is one of the few weapons which can take down the Sword of Reif, a sword commonly used due to the difficulty of fire to block right now. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Right now the main alternative/downgrade to this is the Clawed Shield , but you can also get some semi respectable fire blocking from the Faerie Tabard. Other Points (1 Bonus) Normally I would not give a bonus point here, but this weapon is a particularly amazing cove item which, while I don't feel deserves 5/5 for either area, does deserve an extra .5 on each. Final Thoughts This rating will change dramatically if another fire blocker comes out. Rated on May 26, 2013 |
