Rating: | Price/Power (2/5) 9 icons isn't enough anymore; it isn't bad for the price but it feels like you could get a lot better. Countermeasures (0/5) Even a better mix, since earth and water isn't the best. That and while the item appears to have a full 10 icons, it instead is fractional. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades If you don't want to stray from 9 icons, the Stocking Full of Coal offers a slightly better experience; but honestly you are likely better just going for a more powerful attack item. Something like the Poisonous Mushroom Tea, while not as cheap offers just a couple more icons over this which may help, or you could change your icon mix entirely. Other Points Final Thoughts I wonder if you could use this to grow your own Esophagor; it has the head in there, it looks alive. What if you just grew your own. Rated on September 30, 2023 |

Rating: | Overview: The Essence of Esophagor was an old-school mid-tier weapon. While it's easily blocked by common shields, the Essence gives the advantage of delivering 9 icons over only two icon types. The Good: Dual icon types in a 9-iconer is a rarity. Most are going to deliver the icons across a spread of three types, giving a better chance of the opponent blocking. The Bad: Water and earth are very cheaply blocked. You can almost guarantee an opponent in 2-player battles will have at least a Parasol of Unfortunate Demise or a Leaf Shield, both of which cut into the Essence's icons rather harshly, if not completely blocking it. The Ugly Truth: In 9-icon battles, the Essence of Esophagor is worth having, as it isn't easy to get two-type icon spreads in lower-tier weapons. However, any battles using it should have a backup plan and expect the Essence of Esophagor to be blocked fairly often. Rated on February 28, 2014 |
