Ratings - Spectre Battlecard
Rating: | Price/power (0/5): Terrible for any price. Tactical (0/5): Not a whole lot of icons compared to regular weapons, and it's single use. Bonus (1/1): Can't give this a 0. Closing remarks: I'm not sure if Battlecards were ever viable, but they certainly aren't viable now. Get a Scroll of Ultranova, a Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, or anything else that does a decent amount of damage and isn't single use. Rated on May 30, 2015 |
Rating: | At a Glance (0/3): Throw this magically charged playing card at your opponent, and watch as they explode upon contact, dealing (hehe, pun unintended) 5 whopping icons of pure fire damage! Unfortunately, the card loses its charge of magic and becomes fairly useless afterwards, unless you can throw cards like a certain, card-throwing, teleporting someone. Lol. In-Depth (0/4): Fire is a dangerous and difficult element to block in large quantities, but fairly manageable at minuscule amounts, as seen here. And this is supposed to be a bomb, where it should be dealing more damage than your regular constants. Common beginner constants deal 10-11 icons of damage. A bomb that deals LESS than that is never worth your time. THIS, even as the best regular battlecard, is never worth your time. Price (0/2): I never commend single-use weapons for being economic, as each time you use it, you're (quite literally, in this case!) throwing away nps. Save the 25 nps you'd spend on this, and get the 1 np Scroll of Ultranova. Bonus (1/1): MATH TIME! The exact number of icons dealt was following a pattern where the better grades of cards within a set are increased by 4/9 of an icon. For example, the previous card upgrade, 00 Hog Battlecard, would deal 41/9 (which equals ~4.556) icons of damage. That is also why this item is the ONLY card out of the regular battlecard set that deals the full amount of icons shown - because 45/9 is equivalent to simply 5. Cool huh? Rating: | Price/Power: (2/5) As with most Battlecards this weapon is restrictively weak despite being the more powerful of the red Battlecards. Considering the popularity of 6 icon multi-use weapons this card is pratically worthless, however it does offer a bulk (for this price range) of fire icons. Countermeasures: (3/5) At this price range it is hard to block such a hard hit of fire. But chances are your opponent would be using stronger multi-use weapons which would make up for this. Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades: If you are willing to sacrifice some fire for a chance to use this more then once, along with adding in some extra water defense try the Cheap Fire Ring. If you just want more of a punch, try changing to a cheap 6 iconer such as the Obsidian Dagger. Bomb wise, a cheap snowball such as a Exploding Snowball offers much more firepower and makes this item totally obsolete. Other Points (2 Penalty) Considering the number of more powerful multiuse and bombs at this similar price range I see no reason why anyone should be using this. The picture redeems this "slightly" Final Thoughts Slightly higher mark then the others, but only due to the slightly cooler picture. Rated on November 17, 2012 |
