Ratings - Void Blade
Rating: | Recommended for: Intermediate Battlers Price at Time of Rating: 1-1.5m Perhaps one of the most iconic examples of recent power creep, Void Blade was given out like candy during the 2021 Festival of Neggs event and has outclassed many previous weapon staples. While its price has climbed up since its release, it is still worth it as the final stepping stone before the various 17-24 icon Hidden Tower attackers. Strengths: 16 constant icons of attack across 3 different icon types, and for a reasonable price. The only other weapons that do this number of attack icons are Gemmed Sword of Light (too overpriced) and Thunder Sticks (in a totally different class and price range). Weaknesses: Not really any. Alternatives: Upgrading from this means springing for one of the various 17-24 icon Hidden Tower weapons such as the Anagram Swords, Pirate Captains Cutlass, or Kelpbeards Trident. Choose whichever one is the cheapest or has the icon spread that you enjoy the most, just know that they are quite the jump up in price compared to Void Blade. Downgrades from this include the 15-icon attackers Roxtons Trusty Bowie Knife and Bowling Ball of Lost Cities, as well as the variable Turned Tooth which has the potential to hit harder but averages at 15.27 icons. Notes: Remember when 13 icons was a lot? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Rated on November 29, 2023 |
Rating: | This weapon will only be rated for Regular 1P/2P use, since it doesn't have any niche or league use. Price (3/3): This weapons' price is as low as you can possibly go for how good it is, and considering it was a festival of neggs price, I don't anticipate it going much higher. Power (5/5): 16 icons. It seems the battledome powercreep is continuing now. besides special no-trade plot items like Blazing Embers and Sword of Malum this is the cheapest pure multiuse weapon you can get before going to HT levels. The only other options that even come close are also relatively recent weapons like Bowling Ball of Lost Cities (15 icons), Magic Gridlock Gun (14 icons), and Yooyu Knuckle Duster (14 icons). The void blade beats all of them for around the same cost (and with the exception of the bowling ball it has the best appearance of the bunch, imo.) This is honestly perfect for 1p battledome. For 2p it might still be nice, but when you play competitive you tend to prefer harder to block icons than dark and physical. Uniqueness (2/2): Only 16 iconer in this price range. Nothing else is really unique about this weapon, but I can't bring myself to lower its score, since this should be recommended to every player that has started battling. Overall this is the best multiuse weapon if you didn't get the faerie plot swords and don't wanna spend millions on a Hidden Tower weapon. If you didn't get it in negg hunt, then buy 2 of them. Because of that its final rating is 10/10. Rated on December 31, 2021 |
Rating: | Say hello to what is, in my opinion the (current, as of 2021) best weapon in the casual 1P Battledome metagame. No, that doesn't make it better than Wand of the Dark Faerie, but let me explain. This is the strongest constant that's currently buyable. Let me reiterate: you can't get any stronger constant attacker for less than the price of a Sword of Skardsen. To be quite honest, if you're just looking to grind drops from the Koi Warrior/Jetsam Ace, you won't need anything more expensive unless you're impatient, because the money you'd spend on something stronger would be better-spent just training your pet's strength. That 16th guaranteed icon over something like Lightning in a Bottle is relevant in some damage calcs - for example, Void Blade + Jhudoras Potion + Lens Flare at 55 strength does a minimum of 66 damage -- enough to OHKO Koi Warrior or Jetsam Ace on their lowest difficulties - you'd need to be at 85 strength to get a similar guarantee from two Turned Tooth. Another example: at Level 200 with 350 strength, a pet can guarantee victory against the Giant Space Fungus on Hard using a set with any 100% freezer (like H4000 Helmet or a species option) and two Void Blades (so long as you use An Icicle on the turn the Fungus is frozen) by doing something like the following:
This is just not something you can do with 15-icon constants alone. The only possible downside here I can see is that, given its now well-known status as the bes... ▼ Read More ▼ |
Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/Power (4/5) The price rose rather dramatically after this review came out. At 700k+ while this is still a phenomenal deal; it is not the perfect price to performance it once was. So I will lower my review SLIGHTLY. Countermeasures (4/5) Blocked by a lot less than you'd expect. Sure bits and bobs will get taken off all over the place, but there is very little which damages this entire icon combination. The most effective item would likely be a Ghostkershield or similar- but the price difference is rather overwhelming. This is the same rating as I originally gave, it was just boosted by the Negg Hunt bonus. Comparing this to the new competitor Roxtons Trusty Bowie Knife; I am almost tempted to make this lose one more point. While this weapon is targeted by similar items; this split of icons is much more easy to deal with. Unless someone is walking around wasting their turn with the Altadorian Swordbreaker- most items which impact the knife will impact this worse. The one icon difference doesn't make up for the addition of the 75%; Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades This was by far one of the nicest free items we have received in a long time. It is almost the same level as an anagram sword in icons alone - but at a fraction of the cost. Technically you could bet slightly better off with either a Sword of Ari or Sword of Skardsen Ever since the Roxtons Trusty Bowie Knife came on to the scene we have a new player on the scene; while on paper it may be missing one of the icons; it is currently sizable cheaper than the Void Blade and arguably more useful in terms of utility. ... ▼ Read More ▼ |
