Rating: | This weapon will only be rated for Regular 1P/2P use, since it doesn't have any niche or league use. Price (0/3): Cove item. No. Just no. Power (4/5): 16 to 31 icons. That's insane. However, due to how fragmented the extra icons are the average is usually around 20, and if your enemy uses the extremely cheap Parasol of Unfortunate Demise or any of the other full light blockers you're left with an 8 iconer. Uniqueness (1/2): There's not many massive light iconers, with Skarls Sword and Sword of Thigl being the only available ones that aren't species restricted. Overall It's an amazing weapon for 1P, however, in 2P this weapon will be easily blocked, and might be better to replace with another weapon that's cheaper, has better iconage, and better average. Rating: | Overview: White lies aren't all that bad... that is until you're being sliced to bits by a sword made of them! The Good: The max and even the mean icon quantities are rather nice. On the low end (at its worst) it looks a lot like a Pirate Captains Cutlass, but then when it does hit, it hits hard. I only wish the new Battledome printed icons individually, so when the light hits big, it would look even more overwhelming. The Bad: Light is pretty easy to block nowadays. First-day battlers will likely be carrying a Parasol of Unfortunate Demise, which will heavily cut into the sword. My favorite shield, the Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield, destroys this at every level, and can even cut dual swords down to six icons, meaning you could beat the duo with the Nox Shield and a 100np constant. The average icons aren't super-powerful, so though the sword is strong, it fails to be competitive against cove sets with Attack Pea or Grapes of Wrath. The Ugly Truth: The Sword of White Lies definitely holds its own in the Battledome, but can't be dual-wielded unless some backup weapons are handy. Rating: | Value 1/3: If you have this many neopoints, the icon count might be worth it to you, but this is a geometric leap from the price of anagrams with a fairly small increase in the damage dealt. Tactical 3/6: This weapon is too easy to block right now. Even the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise takes it down to size. Two Hidden Tower shields (Dr. Sloths Personal Body Armour and the popular Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield) fully block light and all the physical from this weapon. It could still be useful if you use it alternately with something like a Sword of Reif so your opponent doesn't know when to block or is forced to try to out-offense you (in which case this weapon will outclass and anagram), but the air available in the Ghostkersword seems like a better option. Other 1/1: This weapon looks awesome, and delivers damage on a scale few others can in neopia. If species resistances return, this is likely to be preferred to the Ghostkersword in the 2p arena. Conclusion: Shields that can shut this down are very easy to come by right now, and because of that I think you're better off spending your NP on a weapon with a more unique function. Rating: | Price/Power (4/5) This item was the bane of some Ghostkersword owners when it came out as it offered the same level of power for less cost. Since then the price of this sword has risen but is still remarkably easy to obtain when compared to other cove items. Countermeasures (2/5) Light is way too easy to block now days with the Parasol of Unfortunate Demise taking down most of this damage if the other player knows. Otherwise this would be a much better weapon then it is. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades As mentioned the Ghostkersword, or the Sword of Thigl of you just want that heavy blast of light. Other Points (1 Bonus) Final Thoughts Given a lot of the other horrible cove weapons this one isn't too bad. Rated on May 26, 2013 |

Rating: | 1P 6/10: A new blade that is based off the classic Ghostkersword, with a touch of Pirate Captains Cutlass. It does the same amount of damage as GSword, but its icon combination is marginally worse for 1P. This weapon could be considered as a primary attacker if it fits your budget and the rest of your set is fully upgraded. 2P 6/10: A big damage threat that's more Pteri-proof than GSword. It is a lot easier to block effectively, so you should be prepared for defenses such as the Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield; it does get a nice 8 icons through light blockers/reflectors such as Kings Lens, Craftsmans Lens and Pirate Captains Hat though. Consider Sword of Thigl as an alternative if you're interested in light damage. I would only recommend this weapon as a heavy-hitting threat if you're happy with the rest of your set and you have the NP to spend. Rated on January 21, 2013 |
