Rating: | At a Glance (1/3): Use the magic imbued within this staff to create an Ultranova each time you use it. Occasionally, you may end up with enough extra magic to create another! In-Depth (1/4): The staff itself does nothing. The only thing awesome it does (or rather, at all) is create an endless supply of ultranovae. While it does have a chance to break permanently... uhm, well, 0.2% isn't too much to worry about. I have used 50% reflectors quite generously, and a few years ago, when I battled the most, I would only have one break every couple of months. Those 50% reflectors have a 1% chance of breaking. So I can safely assume I will get plenty of playtime with this, since it has a fifth of the fragility. Of course, you can also grab a nova rod, most notably Rod of Dark Nova, and still obtain this niche item effect while still having an awesome weapon. The price of those are dirt cheap, so the only reason to grab this staff would be to be able to hold and use more than one or two per battle, assuming you live long enough to do that. Bonus (1/1): This would still be fun to use as a pseudo-multihealer. Perhaps with something like Everlasting Crystal Apple would you be able to live long enough to keep pumping out ultranovae. It definitely could've worked way back when scarab rings wer... ▼ Read More ▼ |
