Firstly, R99- you know what that means for the price. Secondly while this item may look impressive (and 9 icons almost not worth scoffing at) the power is greatly hindered by the random nature.

See, the thing with defense is you know what it can block and you use it to stop a particular strategy from working. Here you have no way to plan for what you will defend so the value is essentially worthless. Now if this was multiple different kinds of attacks then yes it would likely be useful... but as it stands this is just a very misleading item.

Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades
Want a useful random effect? Get yourself the Glittery Faerie Dust instead.. Want a similarly uselessly random defense but want to pay MORE? Rainbow Swirly Thing.

Final Thoughts
Now, this may be semi useful if it did a check. For example, it takes one icon at random that has been used against you and uses that form of defense. Then if it hits the other two- woo- if not.. well at least you had the base defense.

Value 0/3: Paying anything for this item is a lose in the Battledome. Even reading the rest of this review is a negative value for the reader as it wastes your time.

Tactical 0/6: Ok, if you are fortunate and smart enough to be able to predict what your opponent will do next turn.. this still won't help you!! It could defend one of three random sets of icons. Unfortunately, in all cases it can only defend 9 icons max, which is a terrible amount to defend. This weapon might have been interesting as a fun option if if defended double the current number of icons, but right now it can be out-offensed by cheap buyable weapons even when maximizing it's defense. That's terrible!

Other 1/1: This item is beautiful, and since it's r99 it might help someone in the quest to get an Illusen or Jhudora quest item. For that, and it's gallery potential (and just because the random defense is such a wacky idea), I give it 1 point.
