Jhudora + Illusen Quest UpdatesPosted by Dave on September 29, 2025, 9:42 am NST
Today, Illusen's Glade and Jhudora's Cloud quests are getting a new double time perk, available for all Premium members and eventually available to anyone who purchases a forthcoming Fortune Cookie. (The cookie is likely to go on sale later this morning, but isn't up at time of writing.)
In short, this perk doubles the amount of time you have to complete either Illusen's or Jhudora's quests, which will be particularly helpful at higher levels that require hunting down an unbuyable item to purchase from someone.
However, it seems that this perk allows you to receive a perfect score of 2,000 for each quest completed, which now leads to the high score tables for these quests being fully pay to win. Hopefully—to give TNT some benefit of the doubt—this is a bug or oversight and not actually intended. Otherwise it's the most brazen P2W update they've made this year.
When beginning a quest as a Premium member, you'll be notified that your time is currently doubled due to a perk:

And if you're not Premium, you'll see a call out letting you know about it:
Lastly, it's been officially announced that new prizes for both of their quests are coming after the Faerie Festival concludes in October!
So, if you've been procrastinating on completing any of their quests, now's the time to do it and grab those prizes before they retire!

Meh, realistically if you get a quest you can't complete in a minute, you're going to need hours if not days

I am so excited about these new additions to my Illusen gallery, the higher level prizes will give me something to work towards too.

@leek yep. An extra 16 minutes won't help if Illusen is asking for a UB MP.

When I saw the announcement for this perk, I thought "double time" meant the time *between* quests would be sped up. So, we'd be able to do a quest every 6 hours instead of 12. Most new paid options have been time reducers (volunteer shifts, grave danger cookie, etc.), so I guess that's where the assumption came from.
But oh dear, another 16 minutes is hardly going to help. This mechanic is definitely in need of an overhaul, but I don't think this is the solution.
Also, if an item is unbuyable, I'm just going to skip it anyway. But this means, if you want to *intentionally* fail a quest, you have to wait twice as long. That's a pretty big downside imo, since you have to remember to go back and have Jhudora/Illusen get mad at you before the 12 hour timer starts.

Oof hopefully the high score thing is unintended and they revert it

I wonder what will happen to the old prize pool? I'll miss some of the old items, they are very nostalgic and the new pool has an over-detailed style. But of course the new weapons is what we're here for!

Hopefully the new weapons are on par with or better than the old ones. A lot of people would be happy with the wand and staff being given out so freely if there was a new replacement

WAIT, WHAT!?!!
This literally makes the quests trophies paywalled! what the sloth are they doing with the site??

But also yeah doubling the time won’t really help at all with the later quests. You either are already in contact with r99 resellers and can get the item within minutes or you accept your fate when it’s an item that doesn’t exist in circulation.

Shocker, another high score table pay walled like avatars. Don't expect them to fix it, tbh.

Honestly a "reroll" feature would probably be more useful. If you get an UB that only one person has for sale on the TP an extra 15 minutes will not help. VERY excited for the weapons, hopefully they're better than the the faerie festival ones were!

Uh huh...
* PERK NEEDS WORK: So we have a new Premium Perk, Double Time, that not only is useless if you get asked for an UB (unbuyable) which is the main issue with the current quest system, but it messes with the High Score Table! I won't be surprised if they fix it so Double Time doesn't mean you get an auto 2k, but that still means it'll be pointless.
What's needed isn't more time, it's an "Extra Chance". Something where, if you fail a quest, you're forgiven ONCE. Maybe there could be some levels where you're granted an additional "Extra Chance" (actually this would also be a good way to give Extra Chances to the base experience; Premium players start with an Extra Chance while everyone else would have to earn one doing quest).
* WHY NOW: Though, considering they're updating the items Jhudora's & Illusen's Quests after the Faerie Festival, why activate it now?
* QUEST SYSTEM REDO: Of course what I feel was needed was a complete overhaul of the system. I'd go into detail, but I feel I'd be wasting my time; what I would say is that my idea of an Extra Chance would be more baked into the mechanics but not so blatantly (as well as offering a choice of rewards which includes the old ones).
* NEW REWARDS: But hey, new rewards are exciting. From the image let's see what's on offer. The image shows 8 of the new rewards for each:
1. Both are getting a book.
2. Both are getting a Petpet. Illusen is getting what looks to be a Woodland Wherfy while Jhudora is getting a completely new Petpet (I at first thought it looked familiar, but I looked through various lists of Petpets and couldn't find a match).
3. Both are getting what looks to be a potion.
4. Both are getting a coin, possibly collectible?
5. Both are getting a Gardening item. Illusen getting a lawn gnome, Jhudora a statue fountain.
6 & 7. There are two unique items for each. Illusen looks to have fancy dumplings(?) and a grooming item that's a combination of her comb and hair gel(?). J

Jhudora has I'm guessing a toy that's a tcg theme deck based on her and interestingly a new version of her wand (there's already a version of it in the Hidden Tower).
8. Finally, both are getting a sword which I'm guessing is their new top reward.
Wish there weren't so many "counterpart" rewards; don't want to make the quests feel same-y. Also why does Jhudora get a completely new Petpet but Illusen gets a special Colour of an existing; if anything I say this time only have Illusen get a new Petpet? While I understand wanting each to have a collectible, they could have been different kinds: Illusen could have gotten a Scarab (for Scarab II), Jhudora an Evil Coconut (for Evil Coconut II). Finally they could have given them more of an individual feel with their top weapon, like maybe Illusen could have had a Shield or Axe, or Jhudora having an unconventional weapon like a Mirror or Claw Knives (or maybe as a more direct snide to Illusen, a chainsaw).
* OLD REWARDS: So, does that mean the old rewards are being fully retired (which TNT should change them to r180) or will there still be a way to get them if you so choose?

The HS table thing really irritates me...and I'm already premium. When they announced they were going to be doing a "more time for premium" earlier, I was worried it would affect the HST, and sure enough, at present, it does.
Do better, TNT. Fix it so that it starts taking points off immediately, and you're stuck with a score of 1000 if you don't finish it in the "normal" time limit.

As someone who's attempted many Jhudora/Illusen runs over the years the extra 16 minutes *can* make a huge difference in my experience. Obviously not as ideal as hours but it would help.
I'm choosing to believe the 2k guaranteed is an oversight and hope they change it. It should reduce by 1 point for every second you take, regardless how much time you have available.
A lot of players throw around "pay to win" for any paid benefit at all, but this is one I think is truly and literally pay to win. (Or at least pay to not lose...the tie scores that would result from this would be complicating)

I'm not really sure how the high score table helps because it appears that it's accumulative score, and despite the fact that my cumulative score is enough to keep me on the top 100 I'm not actually there. There's nothing that indicates 2,000 points is going to put me on any kind of table so if anyone could explain I would appreciate that.

I'm pretty sure the petpet shown in the image is supposed to be a dandan (painted darigan if the gruslen they released for her is anything to go off of)

dkeeperr1983 - the 2000 points is the max score you can get every day. So if you had the perk/cookie active you would be gaining 2000 points daily so if you finish every quest every day in a month you would have a perfect score which is basically impossible to get normally. The top score right now near the end of the month is 54,805 where with max you'd be at around 60,000 and thus be at the top of the high score table
kenny - JN Staff,
September 29, 2025 1:49 PM NST
@dkeeperr1983 every time you complete a quest you get 1k points for completing it plus one point for every second you have left. That's where 2k comes from.
It is accumulative but resets for everyone at the start of month.
So on October 1st everyone Premium that completed a quest will have 2k. Everyone non premium will have like 1,991. So right off the bat the non-Premium are boxed out of top positions on the HST. Then compound that twice a day for the rest of the month. Premium will always get full 2k every quest and non-Premium always something a bit less than that. (Unless TNT changes that)

I never liked these quests. It looks like TNT isn't doing a complete overhaul of them, which is a shame. The quests make absolutely no sense at this day and age considering how scarce r99 items are because only bots are able to restock them. Don't forget quests 30-50 only ask for r99 items. Good luck to anyone trying to get this stuff, I only wish these quests were retired or at the very least reworked. Hard pass for me.

Oh, this is "the most blatant P2W?" Really? When we just had the plot point increaser everyone here was so non-nonchalant about? The big deal is the Faerie quests you can just... fill your inventory with every item they can ask for on a budget of less than 100k on the first day of the month and get the trophy for free? That's the big P2W problem?
ferinsy,

Lmaooooo the worst p2w so far??? Seriously? We've been having only p2w stuff lately. Double wheel spins, double the limited items from the plot, more plot points for NC...

I don't think this as pay to win because if you do the quest and get the quest that require the items you can't gives in time you will back to 0 score.
blue82182001,
September 29, 2025 6:00 PM NST
But I have said that many times, give us extra ttime to find to items is useless because when we are doing the quest, people usually find a R99 collotor for the quest so we sure will give the item in time or lost no matter what.
All they need to do is let people have a chance to keep the current quest level even if they loose, for example, if you loose in quest level 30 you could do level 30 again next time.
This would be more helpful.

lol we totally have been aboard the p2w train since we started the "new era"
I highly suggest learning the definition of p2w mechanics to whoever thinks we didn't get in pay to win territory until now.
I'll totally accept paying content as long as it doesn't affect gameplay.

I was doing J Quests regularly before they put WODF in the QL prize shop. I did earn the gold trophy easily and placed first. I did peruse the high score table at the time to check out the competition, and it seemed to me that about 7 out of 10 accounts at the top looked like they were most likely shells, so the pay to win aspect, if that is actually the case, doesn't disturb me that much. My guess is Premium members are actual players? Unless there is a way to game that too? Who knows?
Most of the time when I failed a quest it was because the only players who could help me were on the other side of the world. Rarely would an extra 16 minutes have helped. The thing is that when you get up to the R99 quests you should line up assistance before you try if you want a better shot at success. In the good old days the TC board would host Quest help. Then for some reason it was frowned upon and discontinued. I think we should bring that back. Sure there are more R99s in circulation now, but having a few hundred from the giveaways doesn't necessarily help since there are over 1800 R99s. The odds aren't in your favor if you are going it alone.

I hope they change the score thing because you're absolutely right, that's the most brazen they've been (so far) (this year). Like yeah, they've been slipping in p2w stuff wherever possible, but an automatic high score is definitely most blatant yet. Not a good look (not that any of it has been...)
I don't bother with these quests (I'm not mega rich so can't afford the items being asked for, even if it were possible to find a seller) but it's (kinda) nice to see them being updated, though a whole overhaul would be better.

I wish TNT would stop with replacing prizes when updating site activities. Adding to the existing ones is the way to go, not replacing them. Some of the current prizes are still wanted and essentially retiring them is awful. My hope is that the new prizes will be for levels that currently don't have prizes yet, but I assume TNT will just go the replacing route.
I also think that this update should not have been happening yet, as long as there is the issue with botters grabbing most of the r99s in shops and TNT not giving enough alternatives for people to get r99s. The Wheel of Starlight was a good step in the right direction but not enough, and the capsules from the Faerie Festival that can give r99s will give a small boost in supply, but that will be gone almost immediately.
