It seems that at some point overnight, TNT has added the infamous Skarl Collectable Charm to the possible item drops for King Skarl in this week's Premium BD challengers rotation.
For those who don't know, the charm has been an alleged prize from Grumpy Old King, but hasn't been a working prize for over a decade at this point (despite TNT claiming to have fixed it).
However, now the charm is a possible prize for battling King Skarl in the Battledome. So, if you're a Premium subscriber, take advantage and get your battles in today!

Skarl is HARD to beat on Mighty difficulty, even with a max strength BD pet with good weapons he takes 5+ hits. So you have to have Premium AND have a maxed out BD pet and good weapons. I think that's more than rare enough. Unless the Charm drops from lower difficulties as well?
Even so, even if it was common I don't care. I'm so happy to see it FINALLY get released so we can finally finish the page and get the avatar.

@koggler: we're still working on confirming that. Mighty has a higher chance of dropping challenger-specific prizes (as opposed to the more generic arena prizes), so it's always easier to confirm on Mighty first.

I will note that it is entirely possible with just TVW gear and a pet with near to maxed stats, maybe pack a flower of inner healing as a side heal and an ultra dual shovel if you're feeling spicy, but beware if you get prismatic mirrored into next week, because reflected damage can't be blocked by things like TT.

His HP is off on the Battledome page, Easy is 200HP, Medium is 600HP, and Hard is 1600HP. Still too tough for my 960HSD BD pet but maybe doable for the rest of you XD

People are saying they got the charm from Skarl on Mighty.
Skarl's difficulty is 1600. BUT, he has 2800 HPs that must be drained - not 1600.
My pet is maxed out and I can beat him in 4 rounds.
WODF, GBomb, Lens Flare (lvl 50 ability)
WODF, Thunder Sticks, Warlock's Rage (lvl 200 ability)
WODF, GOW, Icicle (lvl 25 ability)
WODF, TTear, Reflect (lvl 400 ability)
Use a freezer in round 2.
In Round 4, he barely has 100 HPs left if you are using these weapons from the plot and these abilities.
Note: He may reflect damage on you and/or heal in Round 4.
His Prismatic Mirror does not reflect physical icons so a good idea to use weapons that deal physical on the 4th turn just in case you don't have a ton of HPs.
His Rainbow Scorchstone only heals 80 HPs.
Luckily, Skarl does not use any abilities so you do not have to worry about something like Lens Flare tripping you up at the end.

I use pretty much the same strategy as faellie_ridiculous has listed out and haven't had any trouble with him on mighty (of course my battle pet has 1693 HP so that helps)
He is refusing to give me the charm though, I guess because I support Darigan over him

This is an excellent way to release exceptionally rare items but in a way that rewards Battledome participation and pet training. Premium thing is a negative, but honestly, if this site is going to survive, Premium subs are the way it's going to continue to do so in the long term.

I actually don't dislike this at all. It's not completely pay to win - the charms entering the market will deflate the price a LOT - even if you have to be premium to win it normally, and it also gives something worth actually using the battledome for other than nerkmids, codestones, and dubloons.

Mhh, it's premium only to get from the bd, but this helps deflate the item so non-paying users will benefit from it and will be able to eventually buy it (hopefully) as well. Tha't s a good way imo!Now, If only they didn't do the weird "act of goodwill" towards premium only users with the QL issue, though...

Nice, I'm glad that they realized that people were expecting the charm since it still hasn't been fixed. And I agree, I think this really encourages more BD participation, especially if they keep the rarest items on the highest difficulty so that user's trained battle pets can shine once again and be rewarded for their investment. And since I'm sure TNT wants to sell those newer NC training cookies, there's more incentive for those to get sold, too.
I think that might have been the aim of their new "Business Card" album in retrospect. Instead of paywalling stamps for the existing albums, it's so far a premium exclusive album that, if it follows the trend of releasing one new collectible each rotation, will take over six years to complete. And add in the fact that they've stated that they'll rotate old challengers back in, they can relieve inflation whenever the older collectibles start to climb up in price.
Between this and the Negg stat reducers, it really does feel like TNT is trying to respond meaningfully to their different player bases. Even with the monetization coming into play since they're trying to make it a profitable site.

I'll share my strategy here in case someone is having trouble with winning in Mighty difficulty. My battle pet has maxed atk/def and about 1.4k HP. Disclaimer: I'm not a BD expert at all, just someone who tried to build a balanced and cheap set over the years.
1st turn: Roxtons Bowie Knife+Varia Bomb, Lens Flare
2nd turn: Roxtons Bowie Knife+Mystical Tablet, Warlock's Rage
3rd turn: Roxtons Bowie Knife+TT, Icicle
4th turn onwards: Roxtons Bowie Knife+Mystical Tablet, Icicle
Use once per battle if low HP: either LEV or Rejuvenate ability
The Mystical Tablet will completely cut down all physical icons (and the occasional dark), while Roxtons will take care of a huge chunk of the earth, while still dealing 400-500 dmg per turn (and ~200 if Skarl uses Prismatic Mirror).
I am also carrying a LEV in case Skarl uses Prismatic Mirror too many times in a row, but I only have to use it in maybe 50% of the battles. I also have the Rejuvenate ability, but I haven't had to use it yet. So if you have Rejuvenate, LEV is probably not needed!

Nah, as a premium member I legit hate this. This charm was originally free FOR EVERYONE and was simply broken for 12 years. All they had to do was fix it. They fixed it by putting it behind a paywall and people are thanking them for it.
This charm will not deflate because you have to have premium AND a high enough stat pet to beat Skarl on MIGHTY and it's not even a guarantee that you'll get the charm as a prize. This isn't like the weekly quest pool items or premium stamp caps. The trading post won't suddenly be flooded with them. If it was a prize on easy or medium, then yes, it would deflate. Everyone thought that FTP users would be compensated for the quest page being constantly broken and people missing streaks but nope, even their goodwill was behind a paywall. (They said they'd reset the ticket count before the month is over and I got ONE ticket, not both lmaoo so even us paying fools weren't compensated as promised LOL)
Getting really sick and tired of this p2w platform they're moving towards.

Strike that, I guess the price *has* come down. But the fact this free item was paywalled instead of just fixed as a king skarl prize is wack to me as a premium member. There were plenty of other items they could have added but they knew people wanted this charm and would either pay premium to try the BD and if that doesn't work people HAVE to fork over millions.

Just a note, using TTear with Reflect doesn't work because Reflect will only function if you actually are about to take damage. TTear has priority, and therefore no damage will be reflected because there was no damage.

@knarled as I said before, it's such a well deserved state for the website right now. Paywalled and p2w items (the charm, the business cards, premium quests), the recent $120 NPC .png's, the overpriced Monopoly game... I just hope the next big thing costs at the very least a thousand dollars, TNT has been aiming too low, their paying customers are loving everything they're "implementing" lately, so they can charge waaaaay more!

I was so excited when I first saw this, because I really want to complete my charm pages. ... But then I saw it could only be gotten on Mighty and was disappointment. My poor BD pet is not bad, but he's a far cry from ever being able to beat that insane challenger!
Ah well, maybe there is a slim chance it will deflate just enough for me to be able to afford it? Probably not, but, eh, one can hope.... :/

Does anyone know the drop rate for the Business Card? I've been fighting Scordrax on hard for over a week and haven't seen one. It only took me 3 days to get the Skarrl charm.
