Hanso has been busy in this year's Festival of Neggs!

Today marks the beginning of the Festival of Neggs- the best time of the year. With it comes a brand new battledome item courtesy of one Hanso.

While it doesn't come close to matching his charisma charm; it is always nice to get another battledome item even if it isn't anything too worthy.

Either way, collect one by getting lucky opening a Fortune Negg during the festival, and don't forget to check out our guide for more information and answers if you need help finding each day's negg.

I'm confused with choices they made with this weapon.

1. First off, it's disappointing for a weapon in general, but it's even more so because they called it a masamune. Legendary Japanaese swords, depicted in many games as a powerful weapon (FUN FACT: Sephiroth's sword is called masamune, need I say more). Yet, here it's pretty pitiful, especially when compared to previous Festival of Negg weapons.

2. Why is this a Battle Magic and not Wonderous Weaponry? Granted, it's a r101 so its Category doesn't necessarily matter, but at the same time wouldn't hurt either. Like they for some reason categorized some Dacardian weapons and Roxton's Trusty Bowie Knife as Wonderous Weaponry yet they have nothing to do with Shenkuu. Do TNT not know what the Wonderous Weaponry category is referring to?

3. Why Hanso? Like, is this is a joke that Hanso found this sword in Shenkuu and just named it after a legendary weapon?

I think the commentary on the weapon is unneeded and one-dimensional... " it is always nice to get another battledome item even if it isn't anything too worthy." completely disregards L54 where it seems like it may at least be a viable option. Not all weapons need to be top tier 1-player weapons. Many players are actually asking for weapons in this range so it is a welcomed addition in my book.

Weather or not it should be designed as the Masamune (which should be a much longer blade) for this level of weapon is another story lol, but stats-wise i prefer this over some random 13-icon weapon or something that would truly be useless for everyone.

Please get people to rate weapons/write up announcements that isnt so biased to high-tiered weapons

This is another good addition in L54. It gives another defensive option against Darigan Generals Sword, coming out on top by 4 icons of two types, leaving the opponents other weapon to do the heavy lifting. Tyrannian Army Math Tools being way too expensive, this gives a very affordable option for physical defence as an alternative to Frozen Wave Scimitar, Scarab Ring and The Scimitar of Lyra.

More weapons like this please tnt!

@ stonewolf11:
Hm, interesting perspective. I'm unfamiliar with L54, just quickly read the rules for the weapons and Hansos Masamune does seem like it would be a pretty decent pick for a dual duty that has a strong attack with a useful bonus of blocking commonly used Physical icons. Maybe instead of the Masamune, something which should be Hidden Tower level weapon, this could have been a Wakizashi or a Tantō; Notably the latter could still have fit with the description. Tantō were an early short blade but were replaced by the Wakizashi, later period ones becoming more ornate and ceremonial. So they could have said Hanso found an ornate Tantō belonging to like a past Shenkuu Emperor or legendary samurai.

Also, maybe IDB should consider adding a L54 review tab for qualifying weapons, that way reviewers who want to give those weapons a good rating for L54 won't mess with their "normal" rating (and those looking for good L54 weapons don't have to look through every single weapon or necessarily look up a guide).

Finally, if TNT want to both appease high level battlers and L54ers, maybe they could make a weapon which has two different stats depending on your Neopet's Level. To keep on theme, Neopets level 54 & below will have stats that are acceptable for L54, and level 55 & higher will be stronger (maybe even have a few tiers so the weapon feels like it's becoming more powerful as your Neopet does).

I would say maybe TNT should think about adding a "L54 Mode" or something like it, but that may be asking for too much. Though at the very least they could have a way to redistribute stats, something that would be helpful for both normal battlers and especially L54ers.
