I remember trying to get the Snowbeast as a challenger when DoN was still a thing. Eventually I had to give up. Worst random event of all time. He's the reason I still only have the Level 10 trophy.

By the time I did eventually get him, DoN was broken.

Managed to beat him today, but will only be able to take an easy win against Snowager tomorrow

Been refreshing for a while for Snow Beast, no luck. Of the currently obtainable challengers (without premium) I'm only missing that, the Drenched and the Tax Beast. Please don't take this as a suggestion for tomorrow's challengers...

Sidenote: would it be possible to feature a headsup for the Drenched on Jellyneo, like with the Darigan Pteri avatar? (If that's already a thing, I must have missed it)

I’ve been refreshing the Advent Calendar and playing Cliffhanger for days preparing for this. Only 1 RE in that entire time, and it wasn’t even the Snowbeast. Looks like I’m getting a zero.

Don't have any advice for unlocking the Snow Beast, but for anyone who's battling it I have some:

* The Snow Beast is tough as it has a Jade Scorchstone (full heal), a freezer which does a lot of damage, and two powerful constant weapons. In addition the icon spread is wide with their being Fire, Physical, Water, Air, Light, and a little bit of Earth.
* The problem is if you're Neopet isn't strong enough to knock it out in the first few rounds some of the usual strategies, like waiting for it to use its healer, isn't going to quite work (unless you want to risk turtling behind 2 shields for that long).
* In the case of its healer, you're just going to have to hope it uses it early or not at all. The former is more likely than the latter, so this may take a few attempts.
* The best equipment combination I can think of doing is Faerie Tabard combined with a full dark blocker which does some damage (Hanso Charisma Charm, Illusen Staff, or The Mystical Tablet). Combined they completely block its Werelupe Claw Necklace, Snow Beast Horn is doing 10 icons of damage (5 if you're using Mystical Tablet), and its Freezer is also doing 10 damage.
* As usual, you may want to hold off using Lens Flare, Warlock's Rage, or your Freezer (or Thyoras Tear/Thick Smoke Bomb) until either (1) You're in a pinch and need a turn to use your healer (if you don't have a full healer may want to consider getting a few Jade Elixir/Lucky Robot Foot) or (2) Are sure you can knock it out with one weapon next hit, so use your second slot to heal to maximize your points.

* Oh, and it does have a few bothersome Abilities (and remember, 1-Player Challengers can use their Abilities as many times as they like):
- Shhhhhhhhh... (blocks your Faerie Abilities)
- Snowager's Breath (blocks weapons & 1/3rd chance of freezing)
- Drain Life (damages your Neopet for 10-11% of its current HP (capped at 100) and heals the Snow Beast for that amount).

yeah, another user without Snowbeast here. What I've been doing is opening a bunch of new tabs of the Advent Calendar (Ctrl + Click or click with mouse wheel) to refresh since it seems faster than mashing F5 or Ctrl+R (the latter refreshes without reloading stuff so it's faster).

Neopets does have some really low random chance situations, but 3 days of refreshing suggests worse than random chance, particularly because unlike things like the 1,000,000 NP Coltzan chance, there's no real need to limit this.

I've discovered if I hold Fn and F5 together my page refreshes like 20x a second, is this safe to do at length at the Advent Calendar or will the site flag this as like inhuman speeds and consider it cheating or suspicious? Not sure if this has been asked before but would rather be safe than sorry, I don't question the logic to Neopets rules anymore lol.

@ lasergu, dtolsen, vellen_, & Anyone else worried about Snowager's high HP:

I think the only way to really defeat the Snowager on Hard (and maybe even Medium) is using a Hubrids Puzzle Box/Evil Hubrid Statue. So you need to survive the first 2 turns to create it, and then turtle as best as you could before you can get it down to an HP you think you can knock it out with an attack (and maybe sneak a heal if you have any left).

I figured it would take something like that, but unfortunately I'm not even sure if I have enough HP to make it worthwhile (just shy of 1000 HP on my main battle pet).

As for my multi-healer, I'm relying on Blaze/Illusens Staff rather than WoDF/Sword of Lameness.

I did manage to pick up The Mystical Tablet as a weekly quest prize, and in combination with Blaze it seems like that might provide some good defense (covers most of the Snowager's icons), so... we'll see.

Limit one, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately, given the price). Cutting down the length of the battle by 1/3 is still pretty huge, especially for bets that can withstand the Snowager's offensive onslaught. I don't think the Snowager has any way to heal, either, so taking off such a big chunk can be especially impactful.

This was fun, except when players didn't have the opponent available... and it was impossible this week to refresh to get them, so many players literally had no score for 1 or more battles. First time I've participated, but am looking forward to the next one already. Did great until snowager... Could only take him on medium. But I sure learned a lot about abilities!!!
