Ratings - Lupe Wand
Rating: | At a Glance (3/3): Unleash the power of the ancient lupes to freeze your opponent in their tracks for one turn! This freeze never misses. In-Depth (2/4): There's really not much to this item. Use it one turn, obliterate your opponent on the next. The best time to use it is when you can finish off your opponent in one turn. There isn't really much of a way to counter it, other than using a 100% freezer of your own. Price (0/2): Even though it costs 10k-20k, making it cost effective as a 100% freezer, it loses out because: 1) Your pet needs to be a lupe. 2) It has a relatively high chance to break compared to Ancient Lupe Wand. The older model is also cheaper than this by close to 10k, effectively replacing this wand as the budget freezer of choice. Bonus (0/1): I only remember this weapon as "the worst version of Ancient Lupe Wand". I mean, the old artifact is more durable AND cheaper than this. The only thing going for this is the fact that it reminds me of "Lord of the Flies", where, instead of a hog on a stick with flies swarming it, there is a lupe head attached to a wand with sparkles glittering off of it. Rating: | Price/power (4/5): Cheap enough for a 100% freeze rate and you can potentially use it more than once. But is it really worthwhile, compared to the Ancient Lupe Wand? Tactical (4/5): Freezing items are extremely useful at most levels, as it essentially deprives your opponent of a turn. While you generally need to sacrifice some offense for the ability to freeze, the amount of damage you can do on the following turn usually outweighs your earlier losses, as this will be a whole turn where your opponent can do nothing to block your attacks. However, given that the cost can quickly add up if you use this frequently, it may be a better idea to invest in a Randomly Firing Freeze Ray instead, which has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. Bonus (1/1): One of the few species weapons that are worth using. Closing remarks: I'd recommend the Ancient Lupe Wand over this, but either choice would be more cost-effective than the {{Freezing Scroll}}, whose price can skyrocket during wars. Rating: | Price/Power (4/5) This item is one of the few good species items on Neopets, it offers a cheap 100% freeze rate which rivals the Scroll of Freezing. Having being given out by the battledome now it should become even more reasonably priced however expect to break often. Being useful in both 1P and 2P allows this item to be one of the few good species weapons. Countermeasures (3/5) A freezing item is awesome as it is, but having to buy them over and over is the downfall here. Positively, even if this is stolen chances are it will be unable to be used by the opponent in 2P. Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades The less likely to break Ancient Lupe Wand is the best upgrade to this, but really both items are solid and either one can be great depending on which you find cheaper overall. Other Points (None) One of the few good species weapons in the game. Final Thoughts The younger brother of the Lupe 100% freeze twins is still useful enough to warrant a mention if you need a quick freeze. Rated on November 22, 2012 |
