Ratings - Parchment Cloak
Rating: | Price/Power (4/5) Very very cheap considering the 12 icon block, but only useful under certain circumstances. Overall however this weapon aces this category- though I do wish it was less fractional. Countermeasures (4/5) Let's face it, you are buying this for the Air Defense. Air is just as hard to block as fire. With this weapon you will be able to cut a significant amount of air damage from several items, including the Scroll of Ultranova, Altador Cup Throwing Star, Stocking Full of Coal, Throwing Cutlass and many many more. While the whole array of icons is nice, it only really shines most against the Scroll of Knowledge. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Well if you can sacrifice the air, Kiko Skull Pirate Hat or Leaf Shield. Otherwise the upgrades are more in the hidden tower level, with items like Hubrid Nox Memorial Shield or Shield of Faerieland. Other Points Final Thoughts For a weapon made entirely out of paper I am impressed by the fact it isn't "fragile". Rated on March 29, 2014 |
Rating: | Value 3/3: Great defensive item for around 10k, and the int requirement won't take many neopoints to achieve. Tactical 5/6: I started making a list of all the common low-tier weapons that use air and I stopped because there were so many: Scroll of Knowledge, Scroll of Ultranova, Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer, Snowager Sword, Golden Compass, Gilded War Hammer- all have some air, many have earth or light as well. Air defense is tough to find (non-existent in low-level dual-duties) and at just over 12 net icons this is one of the best low-level shields with air coverage you can get. The other icons it defends are also common and it synergizes well with other top-in-class dual-duties like the Scarab Ring and Oversized Maractite Rune Sword. It would be interesting to combine it with a Leaf Shield or Devious Top Hat and Cane, spam the icicle ability, and see if your opponent could get through the wall of defense. Other 0/1: Fractional icons make this weapon look better than it actually is, and there's a hidden cost in that you have to spend extra to get the intelligence necessary to use this item. Rating: | Few weapons suffer from fractional icons more than Parchment Cloak. Parchment Cloak offers 12.107 icons of defense to pets with 150+ Intelligence. As aggravating as the fractional icons can be, the fractional icons are still pretty close to the pictured iconage. Parchment Cloak's selling point is its Air defense; Air defense is difficult to find at such a low price. Earthen Scorchstone and Fitted Velvet Cloak are the only other options on the Shop Wizard offering 4.5+ icons of Air defense. Parchment Cloak represents a slightly more powerful option for modestly intelligent pets. Parchment Cloak excels against weapons like Barbat Throwing Star, Vial of Fragrant Oil, and the 11-icon Faerie bows. Compared to the costs of similarly powerful shields, Parchment Cloak is a real bargain. For battlers operating on a low budget, Parchment Cloak is one of the best options for Air defense. Pets with a decent Intelligent stat may also want to check out Blue Draping Cloak. Rated on June 28, 2013 |
