Ratings - Amulet of Lost Souls
Rating: | This weapon will have 2 ratings, a TPL one, and a regular use one. The final rating will be an average of those two. For TPL: Price (1/3): for 90k you can get plenty of other weapons that are really good, but none that have the exact same icons. Power (3/5): I'm not that fond of defensive dual duties, since your oponent needs to use all the icons you defend against for you to actually use the defense icons... That said, it uses fairly good icons there, since earth and light are quite common, but so is dark. It feels that this weapon would be for taking up a weapon slot from either side, this is fun if you think of the Jade Staff and Light Faerie Staff which would do exactly that, blocking the darkness but dealing 3 icons of earth and 3 of light that will be blocked Uniqueness (1/2): Weapons that do 3 attack icons and defend for 6? Plenty. Weapons that do the exact same icon types? Not that many. Weapons that do the exact same time in the exact same attack/defence slots? None that I can think of. The closest that comes to mind is Golden Geraptiku Talisman, which replaces the light defense for dark defense. Overall this is an alright item. It won't win you the battle 100% of the time, but if you have the extra nps or have a gap in your equipment that needs to be filled this could be good to have. For that it gets a 5/10 For regular use: Price (0/3): 90k for a potential 9 icon use is absurd, in every way of the word. Power (1/5): the defence icons may get some use in lower level battles, but the dark icon will most likely get blocked too, which makes this weapon pretty much a wasted slot. Rating: | Price/Power (0/5) Dual duties under 12 icons are rarely worth looking at ever since the release of the gamechanging Scarab Ring... and that was years ago. This item is certainly not worth your time. Countermeasures (0/5) Earth and light are decent icons to block- however with the push towards icon diversity found during icon inflation it simply is not enough. Items such as the Scroll of Knowledge or Scroll of the Fool are just the tip of this iceberg but already offer enough examples to show you why this item is not worth using. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Just get a better defensive item with more spread and stick to dedicated attackers. Get yourself a Wanderers Cloak, Patched Magic Hat or Studded Leather Cuirass and get a much better experience. Other Points Final Thoughts Well at least it has a neat skull on it... Right? Rating: | Price/power (0/5): Very expensive for what it does. Tactical (0/5): The defense would be useful if there were more attacking icons, or perhaps if this were a beginner's weapon. But it's not priced like a beginner's weapon, and the attack is quite lacking. Bonus (1/1): Because I can't give this a 0. Closing remarks: This amulet is not very powerful. Get a Scarab Ring instead. Rated on April 30, 2015 |
Rating: | I'm a fan of Dual Duty weaponry, but 3-6 Dual Duties are really just too weak for consideration more times than not. These days 9+ icon weapons are commonplace for even the newest of battlers, making it difficult for a 9-total icon Dual Duty to keep up. (This Dual Duty would have to block both 3 Earth and 3 Light just to evenly match an opposing 9-icon weapon.) This weapon is R98, and it has been stocking in Haunted Weaponry for some time now, meaning it should eventually become easily available using the Shop Wizard. That price will still be too high. For those that demand both Earth and Light defense in the same Dual Duty, the new Deadly Pugio would be a stronger choice. Otherwise, an Earth-only or Light-only Dual Duty with more offense would be the better choice. See Blunted Qasalan Gladius Sword and Ultimate Negg Hammer for low-budget options.
