Ratings - Pike Pike
Rating: | This rating is to intentionally tank the average score for this beginner weapon, as it is now either outclassed by or more expensive than the current Beginner Recommended Constant Attackers. This weapon should not be considered unless it becomes cheaper than the weapons listed there. This rating does not take into account any use for this weapon in 2P leagues. Rated on February 1, 2024 |
Rating: | Overview: Wait. What is this? A Pike... pike? Well, it's interesting and not terribly weak, so the fish spike plays. The Good: The icon spread is pretty good. I like really the light and water combo. If you're limited to a 9-iconer, choosing less diversity in icons types will certainly decrease the chance of having your attack blocked. The Bad: This doesn't quite have it's niche spot in a lineup with the other cheap 9-11 icon weapons floating around. Despite only using two icon types, it is limited by the popularity of Hobans Hat and the cheapness of the Oversized Maractite Rune Sword. To be honest, these aren't terribly big negatives, but they definitely give someone a reason to not use Pike Pike. The Ugly Truth: This isn't a half bad backup weapon if you've got to find something to fill spot 8. I wouldn't make it a main weapon, as it can be beat head to head by a lot of cheaper weapons. Rating: | Price/Power (2/5) 9 Icons is rather underwhelming these days but at least this has the advantage of having a pretty decent spread. The price is OK, and you do have a chance of winning it at a daily which always helps. The shame here is that the 5th icon of each type is not full, being fractional is often the point that kills these sorts of things. Countermeasures (3/5) Nothing really can 'directly' take this down fully, however a lot of items such as the Kiko Skull Pirate Hat has the power to take a huge chunk out of this weapon. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Ramtors Spellbook offers an extra icon for a bit more cost but realistically it isn't much... The Flask of Liquid Fire offers a great similar level of damage and blocking protection in 2P, but realistically the Scroll of Ultranova would be enough to make me second guess using this weapon. Other Points (No Bonus) Final Thoughts I do love that name. Rated on September 29, 2013 |
Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/power (3/5): One of the more expensive 9-iconers, but since it's spread over 2 icon types instead of 3, it just might be worthwhile. Tactical (4/5): There's nothing at this level that can fully block it, though Leaf Shield cuts it in half and Parasol of Unfortunate Demise reduces it to a measly 1.5 icons. In 2P, you may need to watch out for Blue Draping Cloak as well--it could reduce your attack to 3 icons. Bonus (1/1): I can't seem to find a sharper fish than this. Closing remarks: This is among the 9-iconers worth using. Pairing it with Golden Compass may yield interesting results, however, you'll be exceptionally vulnerable to that Parasol of Unfortunate Demise. Don't forget to look at stuff like Scroll of Knowledge if you want raw iconage. Rated on December 9, 2012. Updated December 17, 2012 |
