Jade Scorchstone (r180) [Retired]View in Item Database
Ratings - Jade Scorchstone

Initial look- Yet another weapon who's reputation precedes it. Before the advent of a certain Brightvale Vial this emerald colored stone was a staple in almost every upper/elite tier set.

Counters- Same as with any other healer; pull out all of the stops on the turn it is used to negate as much of the full heal as possible. The only goal when countering weapons like these is to turn that 100% full heal into a zero or partial heal.

Alternatives- Well there is the Leaded Elemental Vial. It offers the same once per battle full heal but, unlike the Scorchstone, it has one horrifying potential downside. I'm not going to get into that here but let's just say that every time you equip your LEV you had better be paying A LOT of attention because one misplaced click and you'll find yourself out of tens of millions of np and back on the market for a new healer. On the other hand, if you're looking for a less risky alternative, there is the Jewelled Scarab. But that is reserved for the more...how do you say..."refined" BD tastes. With large Neopian coffers.

Bonus- 1/1- definitely gets a bonus point for its price relative to the other full healers (at the time of writing its hundreds of millions cheaper than the Jewelled Scarab and only about 9 million more than the LEV and having no chance of being guzzled down by your "You keep me perma-locked up in the Neolodge" battledome pet.

Overall Rating- 9/10- If you're looking for a 100% heal that comes from a good pedigree, is relatively light on your Ultimate Riches! bank account AND tastes so bad that your pet wouldn't dream of gobbling it up, then the JSS is right for you and you ...

Price/Power (0/5)
A 100% healer is very valuable in the battledome, when you have the max HP to support it anyway. The price of this however makes it less valuable when you consider the fact it is a lot more expensive then the Leaded Elemental Vial which does the same thing.

Countermeasures (1/5)
A full heal is insanely useful and only gets more useful as you get more max hp.

Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades
You know the alternative, leaded elemental vial, and the downgrades like the Bag of Healing Dust... If you want an upgrade first you will need a LOT of hp, around 2500+, the Sword of Lameness offers a multiuse full heal chance.

Other Points (No Bonus)

Final Thoughts
You know how much I love retired items, but I won't ever own one of these.

Power: 4/5
One of the two OPB 100% healers, Jade SS is however more expensive than Leaded Elemental Vial due to being retired, so you might want to go for LEV instead.

Counters: 3/3
Healing isn't countered, nothing to complain about.

Uniqueness: 0/1
Pretty much the same as Leaded Elemental Vial.

Bonus: 1/1
You can't use this on your pet - safety, ho!

This is normally an item I would mark down a significant amount, because Leaded Elemental Vial (LEV) is cheaper and does the exact same thing.

(Seeing how these weapons are identical INSIDE the Battledome, you can just read the Leaded Elemental Vial review.)

There is just ONE small difference between this and LEV; you can't drink a Jade Scorchstone. :P Sometimes you can't put a price tag on comfort; I'm sure I am not the only one who gets nervous about accidentally drinking a LEV when moving it around. Fortunately, it appears that the new Battledome allows users to switch weapons inside the dome, eliminating this risk.

Leaded Elemental Vial is clearly the more cost efficient option, but I cannot bring myself to take more than a point away from Jade for this fact. :P
