Ratings - The Death Knell
Value 1/3: This weapon does icons equivalent to an anagram sword or Kelpbeards Trident. It also has a 50% freeze chance. Pretty cool. Not cool? Costing 3 times as much.

Tactical 5/6: The ability to deal mass icons while freezing should not be downplayed. It will basically allow you to deal more damage up front before your enemy can hit you even once. This could be used in conjunction with Warlock's Rage and/or Lens Flare, giving you 2 chances to get a freeze. Normally, you have to "give up" a weapon slot to use a freezer--you deal less damage for that turn in order to get the freeze next turn. This allows you keep your damage output very high even on the turn when you freeze. Additionally, the icon combination for this weapon is excellent. If used sans Warlock's Rage or Lens Flare, it would prove difficult to block and could keep an opponent on their toes.

Other 1/1: Great art, and despite being overpriced (probably because it's a cove item), this "cheap Moehog Skull" (or "upgraded Randomly Firing Freeze Ray" if you prefer) does something unique and packs a powerful punch.

Price/Power (2/5)
This is a mini Moehog Skull in that it offers a pretty decent level of attack while waiting to freeze... If this item had a 100% chance to freeze it would have been a cheap way to get that level of power... However, this bell misses out on having the awesome block that goes along with the Moehog Skull while having a lower then you would expect power.

Countermeasures (2/5)
Blocking this combination of icons is hard, which is one reason the Moehog Skull is so amazing. Here however we see an item which stops us from using our mains for who knows how long without offering the defense to make up for it.

Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades
This is basically an upgrade to the obscenely cheap Randomly Firing Freeze Ray. Besides this you may consider going to a 100% freezer such as a Freezing Potion or upgrade even further to the Moehog Skull. Other options include the Sword of Lameness for it's multifreeze nature.

Other Points (No Bonus)

Final Thoughts
If only it was 100% freeze.

Pop For Your 'Points (2/3): This remains to be seen, though odds are it will be favorable because of the price of related weaponry. Keep in mind, however, The Death Knell is a Cove item.

In Battle (2/5): The Death Knell sports 18 constant icons, putting it on par with the anagram swords in terms of power. The icon types here are better than the anagram swords, however. The icon spread is reminiscent of Skarls Sword in that reflecting the primary icon type (in this case air) will not pose a problem for the person wielding The Death Knell. Even if the opponent tries to use Triple Turbo Dryer, the scuffle ends in a deficit (7.5 icons to you, and you deal 10.5 to them). By contrast, Triple Turbo Dryer wreaks all sorts of havoc on Sword of Ari. Similarly, not even Shield of Faerieland can contain this Cove weapon. The Death Knell also forgoes physical icons. Because of this, Fan of Swords does not have much to say. As a constant, The Death Knell is the bee's knees.

Unfortunately, The Death Knell is more than a constant, as it sports a 50% chance of freezing the opponent. While you might be saying so far so good, be aware that once it freezes it disappears for the battle. This poses a couple of problems. For one thing, you cannot guarantee a freeze when you want it. That greatly reduces the utility of The Death Knell. The other issue is that out of the blue, a great constant in your set is pulled out right from under you when it finally does freeze.

Think of The Death Knell as a cross between Moehog Skull and Randomly Firing Freeze Ray. Because of the price tag of Moehog Skull, The Death Knell may bec...
