Ratings - Rusty Pitchfork
Rating: | Value 3/3: Skarls Hasty Mace does around 16 icons on average for around 6M. This has a 16 icon potential for less than 1M. That's superb. Tactical 4/6: Physical is still pretty common at this level, so the defense is likely to be utilized. However, the icons are also easily blocked by the popular Sophies Magic Hat. Other 1/1: Not affected by the Bent Fork. Conclusion: If you're going to own a dual duty at this level, it should be the rusty pitchfork. It's icons are common and pretty easy to block, but it does a decent number of offensive icons, and it defends the ubiquitous physical icon. Rated on September 7, 2013 |
Rating: Rating History ▼ | Price/Power (5/5) 11 Icons of attack and 5 of defense is great for a dual duty, the price has also dropped in recent times making this a much more viable option then before. Using physical is a markdown in my book, but blocking it is always good so there is that. Countermeasures (3/5) This item gets cut down by a single Scarab Ring, or a Leaf Shield and can easily lose all physical if it meets a Altadorian Swordbreaker... However the number of physical it defends means that for a well trained pet, it can easily cripple other commonly used attackers which use physical such as a Altador Cup Throwing Star. Alternatives, Upgrades or Downgrades This is one of the stronger dual duties out there icon wise, but can be beaten by a Hanso Charisma Charm in usefulness due to it being a 100% blocker. The natural higher dual duty that does more icons then this is the Mask of Coltzan, while the downgrades are the Golden Compass or Scarab Ring. If you are sporting a lab rat with little need for defense, upgrading to one of the plot weapons like a Altador Cup Throwing Star, or moving down to the cheaper Scroll of Knowledge may be more effective. Other Points (None) Final Thoughts Now that the price is lower this item is finally yet another one of the icon inflated options out there. While a bulk of the icons being physical isn't great, it still provides yet another good option and a large number of icons to boot. Rated on January 10, 2013. Updated January 22, 2016 |
Rating: | Rusty Pitchfork is an absolutely amazing weapon for its rarity. Being only R94 means that it can still stock frequently in the overstocked Haunted Weaponry shop. As a result of Rusty Pitchfork's rarity, this powerful Dual Duty is currently available on the Trading Post for 400k-600k. (Patient restockers can snag this out of Shop 59 for about 10k-15k) 11 icons of offense and 5 icons of defense for a total of 16 icons is impressive for any Dual Duty, but incredible for one that costs under a million Neopoints. Currently, only 2 Dual Duties, Portable Cloud and Mask of Coltzan offer a higher amount of total icons, and both cost millions more. (Okay, Jhudoras Bewitched Ring and Hanso Charisma Charm/Ring of the Lost should get shout outs here too for 100% coverage of an icon type.) What I want to establish here is that Rusty Pitchfork is a big time Dual Duty with an affordable price tag. In 1-Player, Rusty Pitchfork performs exceptionally well. For pets that train defense, Rusty Pitchfork will often out-perform 13-icon weapons like Altador Cup Throwing Star with its added defense. Most 1-Player opponents have a number of items with a few Physical icons, meaning Rusty Pitchfork's defense will come into play frequently. For small pets where HP conservation is important, Rusty Pitchfork provides a tactical advantage over simply smashing challengers with 13-icon weaponry. In 2-Player, the same can be said of the Physical defense: it will come into play often due to the high number of weapons sporting Physical icons. Rusty Pitchfork's offensive icons come under fire here; other defensive measures like Sophies Magic Hat... ▼ Read More ▼ |
