Ratings - Randomly Firing Freeze Ray
Rating: Rating History ▼ | This weapon will only be rated for Regular 1P/2P use, since it doesn't have any niche or league use. Price (1/3): 100k for a 50% freeze is good, if anything, but most non 100% freezers aren't worth it anymore.. Power (0/5): While still alright, the Shuriken has made this item borderline worthless. Yes, the Shuriken is almost 10 times the price of this weapon, but you get to do 14 icons of damage whenever it doesn't freeze, instead of a mere 4. It can change the tide of the battle just with that. Wanna know what else is 10x more but much, much better nowadays? Sleep Ray. Hell, you can even get it for free if you get in on your weekly quests. Because of that it's almost impossible to consider Shuriken anymore, let alone this. Uniqueness (0/2): Percentage freezers aren't rare, and there's plenty 50% ones. Overall it's not as impressive as it used to be. If you have no budget at all it might be good, but otherwise save up for the Sleep Ray or try to get it on your weekly quests instead. Because of that its final rating is 1/10. Rating: | Power: 5/5 This is most likely your first step into the world of freezing. A 50% chance is good enough for 1p battling and being readily available at less than ~200k right now is great given the prices of 100% freezers like Freezing Potion, Heavy Blue Tunic or Magical Marbles of Mystery. Counters: 1/3 Well, here goes the big problem: while a 50% chance is good, it's simply not good enough if you have to rely on the freezing. For every day 1p battling or 2p battling you don't want to rely on luck. And the mere 4 icons offense certainly don't make up for not freezing straight away. Uniqueness: 1/1 There's pretty much no alternative to this besides saving up for a 100% freezer, so I guess it is unique in some sense. Bonus: 1/1 Yay, a really useful daily dare prize that provided a very needed filler between the horribly luck based low-percentage freezers like frost cannons and the 100% freezers. Rating: | Price/Power (5/5) Price wise this freezer is unbeatable, it provides the only non-100% single freeze freezer worth looking at these days. While technically retired the supply of these items is so high that the price seems to remain stable most of the time, which helps if you need to resell it to upgrade. Countermeasures (3/5) The main problem with this is the unreliable nature of it. While it easily beats out all of the other lower level freezers 50% still isn't reliable enough in some situations. However if you do use it you can make up for it pretty easily. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Any 100% Freezer like a Freezing Potion or {H4000 Helmet}}. Multi-freezers such as the Sword of Lameness or a Slumberberry Potion may be also worth looking into. Other Points (No Bonus) Final Thoughts The single best weapon to ever be given out during daily dare. Rated on August 18, 2013. Updated January 30, 2024 |
Rating: | I'll be blunt; I am not a huge fan of Randomly Firing Freeze Ray. Randomly Firing Freeze Ray is a Semi-Fragile weapon that breaks when it successfully freezes. This weapon has two possible outcomes; each outcome has an equal chance of occurring. The first possible outcome is that Randomly Firing Freeze Ray freezes the opponent; the weapon then disappears for the remainder of the battle. The second possible outcome is a small 4-icon attack. First of all, never consider using this weapon in organized 2-Player battling. In freeze battles, a 100% freezer is a necessity. If you try bringing Randomly Firing Freeze Ray into a 2-Player freeze fight, you will essentially be forfeiting every battle where this weapon fails to freeze on command. If you can't afford a 100% freezer, just stick to 2-Player events where freezing is prohibited. Randomly Firing Freeze Ray is NOT an alternative to a 100% freezer. That being said, let's examine Randomly Firing Freeze Ray in the 1-Player arena. Remember that this weapon will fail to freeze half the time, and it when it doesn't freeze it will do nothing more than 4 icons. Considering that anyone using this weapon will likely be using at least Scroll of Knowledge, if not stronger weapons, this 4 icon attack is much weaker than simply attacking outright. When Randomly Firing Freeze Ray fails to freeze several attempts in a row, it can become very frustrating to use. Considering that this weapon will only freeze every other use (on average), it would often make more sense to simply skip trying to freeze altogether. Of course, there are occasions where a freeze is necessary to defeat a... ▼ Read More ▼ |
Rating: | Price/power (5/5): Unless you have a species weapon with a 100% freeze rate, this is as good as it gets until you're able to get an H4000 Helmet, Freezing Potion, or Magical Marbles of Mystery. This is a must-have for mid-level battling. Tactical (3/5): 50% isn't the same as 100%, and you run a significant risk of doing 4 icons that are easily blocked. What next? Try to freeze them again and run the same risk? Or give up on freezing for the battle? What if you end up doing 4 icons 2-3 times in a row? Bonus (1/1): At least TNT fixed this when they launched the new Battledome. Closing remarks: Everyone will have to get one of these at some point, and while you'll be needing this until you get a 100% freezer, there is a significant drawback to using this weapon. Still, it's not like you have much of a choice--freezers are necessary in mid-level battling. Rated on December 9, 2012. Updated January 30, 2024 |
