Ratings - Steel Chomby Chestplate
Rating: | Price/Power (3/5) Very cheap, but still doesn't offer much considering the limitations of being a species item. Countermeasures (2/5) Takes a bit of damage from Amulet of Inevitable Betrayal, Scroll of Knowledge and Scroll of the Scholar but nothing much else. SO not completely useless but given the amount of alternatives now days someone can easily use a different item against chombies. Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades Upgrades to a Galems Cloak, but that is too expensive to seriously consider. Other Points (1 Penalty) For being a species item. Final Thoughts One of the few halfway decent species items, but still doesn't offer enough to 'wow' Rated on September 27, 2013 |
Rating: | Steel Chomby Chestplate is a species weapon that fringes on being useful. This weapon offers 9 total icons of potential defense, just enough to be considered in today's beginner environment. At a price under 1,000NP, Steel Chomby Chestplate is extremely affordable for a first-time Chomby battler. Since low-budget beginner weaponry is able to deal 9 icons or more these days, defensive items need to be able to provide this amount of defense or more to be viable options. Assuming that opposing strength and user defense are equal, Steel Chomby Chestplate would need to utilize its entire defense to be useful. This can be a problem as this involves the opponent using Dark, Water, and Air icons all at once. At the low-budget level, Jhudoras Cursed Sword, Dark Faerie Bow, Scroll of the Fool, Throwing Cutlass, Barbat Throwing Star are a few examples of weapons that use at least two of the three icon types that Steel Chomby Chestplate blocks. Given the rising cost of many beginner-level shields, Steel Chomby Chestplate is an OK option for those just starting out. However, this shield will be quickly outgrown in favor of shields that are not quite as situational. (Stronger shields are easier to use in more situations because it is easier for them to block some icons) Some shields to grow into include Leaf Shield, Wanderers Cloak, Blue Draping Cloak, Parchment Cloak. Rating: | Price/power (5/5): Very cheap for what it does. Cheap defense is hard to come by these days. Tactical (3/5): Not that great against most weapons, though it's pretty decent against stuff like King Kelpbeards Blessing and Scarab Ring. Somewhat better than the Underwater Oven Gloves, but still a beginner's shield. It also reduces certain weapons such as the Ridiculously Heavy Battle Hammer to 3 icons. Bonus (1/1): At least this one is kinda useful, unlike so many other Chomby weapons. Closing remarks: Grab yourself a Leaf Shield, Shiny Shoal Shell Shield, or Studded Leather Cuirass when you can. If you can't afford these and you have a Chomby, this chestplate will do for the time being. Rated on June 30, 2013 |
