Ratings - Crisp Blue Tunic
Overview: A crisp tunic pressed for the most strategic of players. If you've got what it takes to make the tunic, then you can swing battles hard.

The Good: A 200hp swing is deadly in the HP ranges that this is viable. An opponent would be hard-pressed to recover unless they had one themselves.

The Bad: I think the positive benefits of a 100hp heal/drain are fairly apparent, so let's discuss negatives.
  • First, this thing is expensive for what it does. The price has been surging upwards and last time I checked it was about 75% of the price of Bag of Healing Dust.
  • Second, the drain needs to be timed very well. If your bomb move goes better than planned and your opponent goes down to 99HP, you now don't have a healer.
  • Third when compared to the Bag of Healing Dust, it might come up short. In a battle between 400hp pets, the bag might save you if the opponent is attack heavy. Once a pet is in the 500HP range, the bag would start heavily outpacing the tunic, and the extra 50HP swing might buy enough time to counter the lack of drain.

The Ugly Truth: As a solo healer, the Crisp Blue Tunic is very strategy-dependent. One way it might shine is when you can pair it with a Bag of Healing Dust in your inventory, and swap back and forth between battles. That way you're surprising the opponent with a drain or big heal, and your healing turn won't be predictable.

Considering the price rise of the Greater Healing Scroll this item has became even more useful then it was before. By draining the HP gain from the opponent this item is double the usefulness of most healers. Instead of sacrificing a turn to heal this allows you to yoink a good deal of HP while you heal.

Countermeasures (4/5)
The main downsides of this include the intelligence that is required to use and the fact there must be a certain amount of hp to drain... Realistically however this is little reason to not use this item if you can.

Alternatives Upgrades or Downgrades
Downgrades wise there is the Rejuvenating Jar of Brains, upgrades Bag of Healing Dust... But this offers the best restoring drain in the game. Pretty good.

Power: 5/5
Here comes the strongest HP drain you can find for a certainly sane price (even though it usually inflates quite a bit during wars). While the 100 HP healing may not seem much comparing it to Short Sleeved Yellow Tunic or Bag of Healing Dust the draining is where this really shines.

Additionally you get to block at most 4 icons which will certainly not be of as much important, but both water and earth are quite common, so you may get to have this little defence as bonus.

Counters: 3/3
Here comes my favourite fact about draining - it's unblockable. Chances are this hits your opponent as hard as an anagram sword if you didn't outgrow the healing, yet.

Uniqueness: 1/1
The only other item actually draining is Cursed Elixir which plays in a completely different league - such a strong drain coupled with a defence is something you won't find anywhere else.

Bonus: 1/1
I had a tremendous amount of fun with this tunic and it saved me in many battles during the War of the Obelisk - especially during the last wave.

Additionally even if you outgrew it as healer this is certainly worth keeping just for the direct damage which can be surprisingly fun to show every once in a while and gets a lot easier to time once you have enough HP to spare.

Crisp Blue Tunic is a unique weapon the belongs to the short list of weapons with HP-draining powers.

For Crisp Blue Tunic to become worthwhile, the user must boost their intelligence to 750, a hefty but not too unreasonable of a requirement. Crisp Blue Tunic will drain 100HP from the opponent, but the opponent must have 100HP to drain and the user must have lost at least 100HP prior to use, making this weapon difficult to grasp for beginners. Timing is key, and click order as well as turn order are highly important. (Think heal and counter heal)

This weapon is primarily desirable for 2P league battling, more specifically leagues 8 and 9. Since this weapon takes 100HP and heals 100HP, it can essentially be thought of as a 200HP swing. Generally speaking, only a full healer like Leaded Elemental Vial could overcome and possibly outmatch Crisp Blue Tunic in these leagues; LEV costs significantly more.

There are many quirks and interesting scenarios to Crisp Blue Tunic, so many that they would be more properly described in an article than a weapon review. The bottom line is that Crisp Blue Tunic is a highly effective healer for advanced 2-Player battling, and worthy of consideration based on your play-style in Leagues 8 and 9.
